GUIDELINES:
(1) Passage Plan must be made BERTH to BERTH for each leg. The legs of the voyage are recommended to be divided as per
the following:
(a) Departure Berth to Open Sea (e.g. Pilot Station)
(b) Open Sea Transit
(c) Transit through enclosed waters (e.g. Singaproe strait Transit)
(d) Pilot Station to Arrival Berth
(2) The Passage Plan is to be utilised as a DYNAMIC DOCUMENT and must be referred to during the passage. While most of the
plan can be made much in advance, some information like height of tide, current / tidal stream direction are dependent on time
of transit at that part. This information must be updated prior to transiting that particular leg of the voyage to keep the plan 'Dynamic'.
(3) ALERTS should be marked on the chart. These warnings could be for a wreck/a shoal/unsurveyed depths/density of traffic/
crossing ferry traffic/fishing areas/strong localised eddies and currents/ speed restrictions/reporting points/ etc
(4) Tides/No go areas/ contingency anchorages/ abort points/ next chart no./minimum UKC (in critical areas)
/ wheel over posns (for large ships) must be written on chart.
(5) Master’s remarks should be read in addition to the Master's night orders and standing orders.
(6) Master and all watch keeping offficers are to read and discuss the passage plan in detail before commencement of the passage.
(7) Expected UKC = [(Charted Depth + Height of Tide) - (Actual Draft + Squat)]. Atmospheric pressure and sea state taken into account.
(8) Position fixing Method Abreviations to be used: GPS (G)/RADAR (R)/ VISUAL (V). GPS derived positioins should always
be verified by Radar / Visual fixes where possible.
(9) Manning Levels:
Level 1: Only one watch officer on the bridge {Permitted only during daylight hours with good visibility and little traffic}.
Level 2: One watch officer and one seaman.
Level 3: Two watch officers (one of whom may be the Master/Chief Officer) and one seaman.
Level 4: Two watch officers (one of whom may be the Master/chief officer or Pilot), one helmsman and one lookout.
Level 5: Three watch officers (one watch officer may be the Master and other may be the Pilot), one helmsman and one lookout.
(10) Reference Page Numbers Abbreviations to be used: ALRS (A) / Sailing Directions (SD) / Guide to Port Entry (G) / Port Circulars (P)
(11) Specific instructions by the Master for the passage, or deviation made from the plan while monitoring the executed passage,
may be entered in this column or attached as required.
(12) Radar conspicuous objects and parallel index points must be marked on charts as appropriate. In general, for each
course, a landmark or radar conspicuous object ahead should be looked for, so as to ascertain distance off from
that object, which will assist in determining time for alteration. In addition, a point should be selected for parallel
indexing, so as to ascertain drift encountered. Used together, this would assist in Continuous Monitoring of the Passage.
(13) Charted Controlling depth is the area with least depth (Datum level) over which the vessel is expected to transit.
(14) In case of Multiple controlling depths the UKC calculation shall be separately worked for each position.
(15) For a controlling depth over which passage is constrained due to tidal height, note the tidal time window during which
the passage can be safelty made. Always use the lowest tide of the day for Initial UKC calculations and then calculate
the safe tidal time window and the speed at whicy the passage will be made.
(16) In case vessel deviates from the intended route, the passage must be updated for any such deviation.
Note: The locked cells in the passage plan may be unlocked using pass word " master "
ABBREVIATIONS USED:
WPT: way point DIST: distance
A/CO: alter course DTG: distance to go
T/CO: true course UKC: under keel clearance
A bridge team meeting must be held prior entering into congested locations, port arrival/ departure, heavy weather etc. or whenever it is deemed
necessary by the Master. The agenda for the meeting shall include at least the following:
Distribution:
From Port : Dep Draft F: mtr Arr Draft F: mtr Min. estimated UKC (corrected for squat) for the passage
To Port : Draft A: mtr Draft A: mtr (Refer guidelines given in SBP 201A 3.3.1) : Mtr
Ensure salinity of water is taken into account while calculating Max draft

NOTE: Highest Astronomical Tide (HAT) / Mean Sea Level (MSL) / Mean high water springs(MHWS) is mentioned in the
Admirality Tide Tables and also can be obtained from the Admirality Digital Publications (ADP) installed on board.
In case of absence of any specific guidance on the use of HAT/MSL for overhead obstructions, value of
MSL to be considered for calculation and port authority to be contacted for more information.
