PREMARITAL SEX/FORNICATION
Defined as a sexual intercourse before marriage.

-OVER a third of Filipinos aged
15 to 24 have engaged in premarital sex (PMS), and a majority of them do not use any form
of protection, according to data collated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
- 35.5 percent of young male Filipinos and 28.7 percent of young females have engaged in
PMS and 11 percent of the surveyed Filipino females 15 to 19 years old are already either
mothers or 13.6 percent have begun childbearing.

CAUSES:

 Pressure
Pressure from parents, peer group, friends, lecturers, boss, future partners.Some men do mount
pressure physically on their partners while some ladies do mount pressure on their partners
through dressing carelessly exposing their nakedness to seduce their partners.
Some male bosses do mount pressure on their female workers, they want girls that can work for
them and still satisfy them sexually.
 Curiosity
Many youths have engaged in premarital sex as a result of curiosity. They thought they were
searching for reality, but they end up destroying themselves. They are not satisfied with their
parent’s pastors and Christian friends told them, they want to experience it themselves.
 Electronic media
Television, film, video has contributed to the high rate of premarital sex. What youths watch on
screen determine their behavior and character. Every product advertised on T.V. is just
promoting sex. In fact, to advertise food items, they use films, televisions and radios promote
sex. Most home videos promote sex.
 Books and magazines
Some satanic authors are in towns destroying the youths; they write some sexual books, stories,
and magazines, they bring out many pictures that stimulate the youths to think about sex
always.
Having read all these books, youths do become restless until they put it into practice what they
learned in the books and magazines.
 Environmental influence
We live in a corrupt society where people do not see bad in ungodliness, they do not see
premarital sex as a sin; they see it as a normal thing. Hence, girls are encouraged to dress
exposing their bodies. Premarital sex has become the norm of the society. Some Christian
youths find it difficult to cope in this kind of environment; hence, they fall into this ungodly act.
IS PREMARITAL SEX GOOD OR BAD?

1.KANTS VIEWS

- according to Kant, Relationships and marriage should be based on the mutual love, but when
premarital sex is involved it leads to a sexual passion. People frequently use their partner to
satisfy their desire for sex. This would be using their couple as a mean to an end in order to get
what they want, in this case sex.
“If . . . A man wishes to satisfy his desire and a woman hers, they stimulate each other’s
desire; their inclinations meet, but their object is not human nature but sex, and each of
them dishonors the human nature of the other. They make of humanity an instrument for
the satisfaction of their lusts and inclinations, and dishonor it by placing it on a level with
animal nature”

Kant said, “Human love is good-will, affection, promoting the happiness of others and
finding joy in their happiness, but it is clear, that when a person loves another purely for
sexual desires, none of these factors enter into the love”

2.DIVINE LAW

Corinthians 6 is in verse 18-20: Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person
commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own
body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price.
So glorify God in your body.

DISADVANTAGES
1.Early pregnancy
-Because premarital sex occurred in the majority of those who lack the knowledge of sex and
experience, they may be pregnant after having sex, which may do great harm to these women
physically and psychologically.
2. STD(Sexually Transmitted Diseases)-Several infectious diseases that are transmitted
primarily through sexual intercourse or other intimate sexual contact.

PREVENTION:
 Control what you watch and avoid pornography.
 Mind what you’re listening to. If it’s not worth listening then close your ears.
 Avoid reading romance novels.
 Avoid sexual touching, caressing, fondling and necking.
 Be careful where you go.
 Select your friends carefully.
