1. SET A GOAL
FOR 100 DAYS
A. 100 DAYS FOC USE D
IS IMPORTANT! HARD WORK
It’s no accident that we set a goal for 100 days. It’s actually IS THE REAL KEY TO SUCCESS
the very best time period to work on a goal.

Goals of longer than 100 Days are not good because there
is no urgency to get going! When we set a goal for a year,
KEEP YOUR EYES
we don’t really need to start today because there’s plenty ON THE GOAL AND JUST
more time. Yes?! KEEP TAKING THE NEXT STEP
Goals of less than 100 Days have urgency, but they are
not long enough to accomplish something BIG. Shorter than
T O WA R D S
100 days and there’s just not enough time to get results from COMPLETING IT
your efforts. Especially if you are doing a tough goal like
writing a book, selling more in your business, losing weight,
saving money, etc, etc.

5 6

THE BUSINESS BAKERY THE BUSINESS BAKERY

4. Super - specific
B. HOW TO SET You need to know what finished looks like! Precisely! So if your goal
A GOOD GOAL is to revamp your website: what does that look like exactly?! If your goal
is to get healthier, what does that look like? If your goal is to sell more,
We’ve had over 250,000 people do the 100 Day Goal with us and how much more? Number goals (like a sales goal if you’re doing this
we’ve learned that picking the right goal is super-important. It’s much for your business) work really well because then you absolutely know
easier to be successful if you pick the right type of goal. whether you’ve achieved it or not! If you can’t come up with a number
goal, write down in detail what ‘finished’ looks like so you’ll know it
when you get there!

YOUR GOAL IS A ‘GOOD GOAL’ IF IT’S: 5. Measurable as you go:

1. Just one thing: There’s nothing like seeing progress to keep you going, so pick a goal
that you can measure (each day if possible) and you’ll feel much more
Even though you might be tempted to pick two or three goals, resist!
inclined to persevere!
Picking a single goal always works better than multiple goals because
it’s really, really hard to focus on more than one thing at a time!
6. An outcome not an input:
2. Something YOU really want: An outcome is a result, whereas an input is the thing you do to get
the result. For example sales are an outcome (a result of your work),
Yes YOU! Your goal needs to be something YOU really want to
making cold calls (yuk!) are an input: they are the thing you do to get
achieve, not something you think you should aim for, or something
the outcome. Weight loss is an output, walking 10,000 steps a day is
somebody else thinks you should do. This is about YOU. Pick something
an input. It’s better to have a goal that is an output (the change that you
you really totally absolutely 100% want to accomplish.
want in yourself or your life or your business) than an input because not

3. Doable all inputs work (sadly!) You might need to change the inputs to get the
result you really want.
Big stretch goals are great but let’s get real here. You’re busy, you
have a life to run. What’s really doable?! Reaching a small goal will
7. Useful!
motivate you much more than missing a big goal. And certainly DON’T
If you’re doing a businessy goal, don’t get sucked into ‘vanity’ metrics
make it so big it terrifies you!
(eg. the number of Insta followers you have) unless you can see how
that is going to turn into something worthwhile, like sales.

C. NOW DECIDE HOW
BIG TO MAKE YOUR GOAL!
You want to make your goal a stretch but not ridiculously impossible.

GOALS
Here are some things to think about:
• If you spend just 15 minutes a day working on your 100 Day
Goal, that’s 25 whole hours. What could you achieve in 25 solid
hours of working on your goal. A lot!

• If you spend just 30 minutes a day working on your 100 Day
ARE THE
FUEL
Goal, that’s 50 whole hours. What could you achieve in 50 solid
hours of working on your goal. Masses!

•H
ow much are you already doing? The 100 Day Goal is about
achieving MORE, so if you’re already selling, say, 25 items in IN THE FURNACE OF
100 days how many MORE can you sell?

•H
ow big does your goal need to be to motivate you to work on ACH IEVM ENT
it? Think of three different sized goals and imagine achieving
each one. Pick the goal that excites you and feels just slightly out
of reach.

• If your goal is a business goal, think about how much you need
to sell to make the money you need to earn from your business.

9 10

THE BUSINESS BAKERY THE BUSINESS BAKERY

2. WRITE A LIST OF
EXAMPLES OF MOTION AND ACTION
• If your goal is to sell 100 handmade dresses, making the

MICROACTIONS
dresses is motion, going to the market to sell them is ACTION

• If your goal is to sell 100 handmade dresses, posting lifestyle

images on Instagram is motion, posting a picture of your dress
with a Call to Action (“buy me”) is ACTION
Step 1 of the 100 Day Goal Method was to decide on your goal.
Now you’ve done that it’s time for step 2: Make your Microaction List. • If your goal is weight loss, reading books on nutrition
is motion, going for a brisk walk is ACTION

MICROACTIONS: • If your goal is to write a book, research is motion,

Microactions are small tasks you do that help you reach your goal. doing the writing is ACTION.
Your Microaction List is a list of lots and lots of those small tasks. There
are two very special reasons behind making a Microaction list, but There’s nothing wrong with motion, but we do a lot of it anyway.
first, let’s look a bit more closely at what a Microaction is. ACTION is the stuff that gets us to our Goal so that’s what we’re
focusing on. Every day you’ll do a few Microactions and the whole
of the rest of the day you can spend on motion!
THE TWO IMPORTANT BITS
It’s Micro!
Micro means the task is very small. So it’s a task you can do in less
than 15 minutes. Or 30 Minutes max. When you’re doing your
Microaction List if you have tasks that are bigger than 30 minutes DO THE HARD JOBS FIRST,
THE EASY JOBS
chunk them down into two smaller tasks.

It’s Action!
Action means that the task takes you directly towards your goal. Tasks
W I L L TA K E C A R E O F
that are not Action are Motion. In business and in life we do lots
of Motion, it’s all the ‘other’ stuff we do. We don’t want to put any
THEMSELVES
motion on our Microaction List. It’s all ACTION.

11 12

THE BUSINESS BAKERY THE BUSINESS BAKERY

2. Making a big list gives you plenty of tasks to choose from
The magic of the 100 Day Goal is found in doing at least one small

SUCC ESS IS THE Microaction every day. Partly because ‘Dripping water wears away
a stone’, but also because doing a Microaction every day turns the
SUM OF SMALL EFFORT S 100 Day Goal into a habit, and when something’s a habit it becomes
a breeze to do!

R E P E AT E D Doing one small action a day sounds easy, but it’s amazing how tricky

DAY IN AND DAY OUT we actually find it! Often we get stuck on what actions we should do
(especially when we’re so short on time that it’s hard to think clearly on
what’s the best next step to take). So having a BIG list of Microactions
to choose from makes picking something to do, easy!

MAKING YOUR MICROACTION LIST:

Making your Microaction List is a super-important step in your 100
Day Goal. You’re going to make a list of at least 150 Microactions!
That sounds like a lot, but here’s why we do it.
T H E B E S T WAY
1. Making a big list switches on your subconscious brain TO GET SOMETHING
and with it your imagination and creativity
If I asked you to write a list of things you could do with an empty jam DO NE IS TO
BEGIN
jar you might come up with, say, 20 and they’d all be pretty normal
ideas. But if I asked you to write a list of 200 uses for an empty jam
jar you’d come up with plenty of creative and clever ones. Try it!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR

If you find you need more direction with your Microactions
You can do the Quick Start Method or the Paths, Projects,

3. Write the numbers 1-150 down the right hand side. • Sell online
4. Jot down as many different Micro-actions to reach your goal • Sell offline
as you can think of. • Sell more to existing customers
5. Don’t edit them! Write down anything! Be wild! Be creative! If your goal is weight loss your Paths could be:
6. Keep going until you have 150. • Exercise more
7. Ta-da! You’ve got a Master Action List! • Eat better
Write your Paths on the ‘Paths’ printable that comes with this Guide.

PROJECTS QUESTIONS
The next step is to think about the Projects you could do along Look at your Project list. Decide which projects you’ll do during this

• Simply turn each question into a series of Microactions

multiple lists (one for each project). Keep them stapled together
though so you have them close to hand each day when you pick
your Micoactions to do! You can use our ‘Master Microaction List’

do the week ahead. Often our ToDo lists are SO full of urgent things that we never get round
to the important stuff. Your 100 Day Goal is important so pop one or two

totally the BEST way to make sure you take action every day!

Just pick one or two things off your Weekly Microaction List and pop them

your ToDo list helps them get done! Usually our ToDo lists are full or ‘urgent’
things rather than the ‘important’ things (like 100 Day goal actions!)
WHILE OTHERS ARE
Here’s a way of telling the difference between Urgent and Important
tasks in a business: DAYD REAM ING
• If a task has to be done NOW (or today), it’s urgent.
• If a task directly helps you make money or improve your business,
it’s important.

7. DON’T BREAK THE CHAIN if you don’t want it!)
This is a trick that Jerry Seinfeld used to make himself write each day. He’d
hang a big year-at-a-glance calendar on his wall and would draw a big
red ‘X’ on it every day that he wrote new material. Eventually, he began to
create a chain of red Xs which he then never wanted to break!

You can do the same: TIME FOR THE THINGS
Buy a calendar and draw a red ‘X’ for every day that you do a Microaction!
