Field Procedure for Overhauling job of Power transformer

1 Testing prior to OH

- Cutting of gasket by special machine to achieve proper finish

7 Top cover lifting - Access for a person to go inside and sit on top part of core for

8 Bell cover lifting - At least by 0.5 ft to replace gasket

9 - Confirmation of proper contact alignment and contact resistance.

IR values
- Comparison of IR values strictly at common temp.

- IR value recording to be done at every 4 hours during circulation

- IR value under Nitrogen medium to be recorded once in a heating
cycle.
- The P.I. improvement should be at least up to 1.3 for HV winding
and 1.3 for LV winding if they are already in the range of 1.1 prior
to OH or atleast 15%.
- If P.I. is above 1.5 prior to OH the P.I. the same range should be

- Oil sample to be taken in steel and glass bottles and allowed to
