concerning your education to be undertaken, and
Other students enrolled in the same courses as you or as may be required by a Faculty to
facilitate USQ's provision of tertiary education services to you and other students including
in the future.
Other than as set out above, personal information will not be disclosed without your consent
unless required or authorised by law. For details of USQ's Privacy Policy, including related

Teaching mode
As an on-campus student you will be required to attend face-to-face lectures, tutorials and
workshops. W hile this is a requirement for most of your program's courses, USQ's approach to
on-campus study has evolved to be more flexible and there may be occasions where you
complete some of your courses online or externally.
USQ has forged a reputation as one of Australia's leading providers of online education and the
delivery of external education resources continues to lead the way. If you are required to study
some of your courses online or externally, all study materials will be made available through
your UConnect student portal.
A recommended enrolment pattern, including modes of study for the courses you need to
complete for your program, is detailed in the Handbook.
Study periods
Below are the 3 study periods that USQ offer per year for undergraduate and postgraduate
programs.
International students on a student visa are required to maintain full time enrolment. USQ
considers full time enrolment to be 4 units per semester, which program enrolment patterns
follow. Each individual unit is normally equivalent to 1 credit point.
English language programs such as ELICOS and EAPP are not aligned with the standard study
periods. Instead, these programs are run during shorter sessions which commence at various
times throughout the year.
Academic misconduct includes cheating and plagiarism and is an extremely serious offence which
can lead to suspension or exclusion from the University. For further details of USQ's Academic
Integrity Policy, please access policy.usq.edu.au/documents/13752PL.
Cheating
Plagiarism
The term 'plagiarism' includes but is not limited to, the use, by paraphrase or direct quotation,
of the published or unpublished work of another person without full and clear acknowledgement.
For more information about plagiarism, please access the following
link: https://www.usq.edu.au/library/referencing/what-is-plagiarism
USQ is committed to ensuring students have access to formal complaints and appeals processes
so disputes and problems can be solved in a fair and timely manner. Prior to making an appeal,
students should access the Student Complaint and Appeal Policy
policy.usq.edu.au/documents/15264PL or contact their relevant Faculty to familiarise themselves
with the required process.
Students are able to withdraw from courses without academic or financial penalty if they do so
prior to the census date (end of week 4 for semesters 1 and 2, week 3 for semester 3 and week
2 for ELICOS and EAPP sessions) for each semester/session. Students may withdraw without
academic penalty only provided they do so prior to the withdrawal date (week 8 for semesters 1
and 2 and week 6 for semester 3) and will receive a grade of W AP (W ithdrawn without Academic
Penalty only). Students will still incur financial liability for courses dropped between census date
and withdrawal date. If withdrawal is a result of special circumstances that are beyond the
Student's control, an application to W aive Academic Penalty with Fee Reversal may be
considered.
The University recognises that occasions may arise in which students find it necessary to drop a
course after the census date. In such cases, the academic penalty may be waived and fees
reversed if the course is dropped for special circumstances including:
medical
family or personal
employment related
University or Partner error
For information on withdrawing from courses without academic or financial penalty, please

Deferment, suspension or cancellation of study during enrolment
Registered providers may only enable students to defer or temporarily suspend their studies,
including granting a leave of absence, through formal agreement in certain limited
circumstances.
The Standard also addresses cancellation of enrolment and requirements relating to notification
through PRISMS should a student;s enrolment be deferred, suspended or cancelled. It covers
student access to complaints and appeals mechanisms if a provider initiates a suspension or
cancellation of enrolment against a student's wishes. For more information on this policy, please

therefore there may be times when you are charged more fees than originally estimated in your
letter of offer. For further information on International fees and scholarships please
access https://www.usq.edu.au/study/international/things-to-know/fees-and-scholarships.
1. Students are required to pay their fee liability in full by the published due date for the

In accordance with Australian Government legislation, USQ will be charging you a compulsory
Student Services and Amenities Fee (SA Fee). The SA Fee is in order to provide students with

registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students

ESOS framework
The Australian Government wants overseas students in Australia to have a safe, enjoyable and
rewarding place to study. Australia's laws promote quality education and consumer protection for
