Silent Spring

Rachel Carson was born on May 27 in a small farm in Springdale

Pennsylvania United States.

CHAPTER 1: FABULA FOR TOMORROW

in this chapter she tries to explain that flora and fauna reigned until that
moment in which the surplus of death spread, where bees disappear,
dying birds, birds do not sing , the flowers dry up.

Chapter 2: THE NEED TO SUSTAIN ITSELF

a man's attack on the environment is the pollution of air, land, rivers and
the sea with dangerous and even lethal materials.

The substances with which it is contaminated will seep into chains until it
reaches the bones of the human being, where it will remain until its
death.
Man has created more than 200 basic products to kill insects, destroy
herbs, rodents and other qualified organisms such as ¨ pests ¨.
Each new insecticide is believed to be stronger and more deadly than the
previous one, this is because the insects are adapting.

Chapter 3: ELIXIRS OF DEATH

The synthetic pesticide is found everywhere.
They have stayed in fish, birds, reptiles and domestics, scientists find it
almost impossible to locate individuals free of such contamination.
DDT: Dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane, very cheap and easy to get
Dieldrin: five times more toxic than DDT
is used against Malaria
human reactions can cause convulsions.
Chapter 4: SURFACE WATERS AND UNDERGROUND SEAS
water from rivers is almost completely contaminated with insecticides, fish
had insecticides stored in their tissues.

Chapter 5: THE DOMAINS OF SOIL

The soil is of utmost importance because in this there are fungi, bacteria
and algae which reduce the residues of plants and animals.
An important animal for the soil is the earthworm but because if the soil is
contaminated these worms can be jeopardized.

Chapter 6: THE GREEN MANTLE OF THE EARTH

A plant will keep its life if people find it convenient to be so, otherwise, if
we find that they are not useful or that are a hindrance, we condemn them
to destruction.
Ecological destruction.
Herbicides.
Chapter 7: Unnecessary devastation
Animals no longer only have to survive hunting, but also direct killing by
chemical insecticides.
JAPANESE BEETLE CONTROL IN MICHIGAN
sprayed insecticide Dieldrin (which is 50 times more poisonous than DDT)
with uncontrolled airplanes, leaving poison pellets not only in fields but
also in houses, trees, streets and in contact with people and animals.
This provoked a lot of loss of animals like rats, rabbits and squirrels.
was finished with 80% of songbirds
they affected the cattle
And people who were in contact with this fell ill

Chapter 8: NO BIRD SINGS

when fumigating the trees with DDT affected numerous birds, leaving
dying.

Chapter 9: RIVERS OF DEATH

from surface waters these substances tend to be absorbed by organisms
called plankton. As the fish eat these organisms, they become a chain, as
they feed the birds and humans.
The concentration of these substances is increasing according to the fat
of the organism.

Chapter 14: ONE IN FOUR

due to the exposure of chemicals, the emergence of cancer among the
population has been increasing.
These products penetrate the skin to become part of us, even of those
who are to be born.
Cancer is not only increasing in adults, but also in children. Leukemia
