Materials: Power point & Paper & Model

Stage 1- Desired Results – you may use student friendly language

What do they need to understand, know, and/or able to do?
Students need to know plants in daily life, changes of plants in different seasons, the main organs plant have,
and .how the organs work together.

inform individual and community decision making on issues related to the natural and constructed world.
Students can deepen their connection to and relationship with nature.
Engaged Citizens
As students explore connections between science and the environment, they will contribute to living in
harmony with others and the natural world.

Cross-Curricular Competencies:
Developing Thinking
Students develop understanding by observations and what already is known by themselves and others. By
thinking creatively, students deepen their understanding of phenomena in the natural and constructed world.

Outcome:
Student can recognize main organs of plants and retell related functions

PGP Goals:
The teacher will use various course materials to deepen students’ understanding and foster students’ capacity of
observation and description.

Bow Stage 2- Assessment

Assessment FOR Learning (formative) Assess the students during the learning to help determine next steps.
Group discussion, making a specific introduction of each plant organ in front of the class, reading extra materials

Assessment OF Learning (summative) Assess the students after learning to evaluate what they have learned.
A quiz paper, asking questions, giving grades, correcting answers.
Stage 3- Learning Plan

Motivational/Anticipatory Set (introducing topic while engaging the students)

let students come up names of all kinds of plants and describe their appearance
show students a few models of plants, like sunflower, pea, rose and so on
let the students draw the leaves in each season.

Main Procedures/Strategies:
Hand out a plant model for each group, let the students figure out the organs.
Present the professional definition and description on the power point.
Hand out the paper with the content on it

Adaptations/Differentiation:
The level of extra reading materials

Closing of lesson:
A clip of documentary about plants

Personal Reflection:
According to the students’ response and behaviors, teacher should adjust the speaking speed.
According to the quiz, teacher can get a direct evidence of assessment, and they will adjust their instructional
strategies.
