Television is one of the media which has an integral part of life that
supported by audio and visual display that delivered the communications
effectively and easily understood by all circles.

The purpose of this research is to find out how far the Discrepancy between
gratifications sought with the gratification obtained after watching the Real
Story television movie on Indosiar.
Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that in the GS the
majority of respondents have the motivation to search for satisfaction found
in the important category. These needs include knowing the lives of other
people (40.3%), obtaining the meaning of life (58.2%), obtaining ways to
solve problems wisely (50.7%), finding suitable characters (38.8%), finding a
figure that can be used as an example (49.3%), get guidance in living (49.3%),
get talks with other people (38.8%), to gather with family and friends
(34.3%), to forget about the problems faced (37.3%), to fill leisure time and
relax (53.7%), channel emotions and tension (29.9%), and get entertainment
(35.8%).

category there is a level of satisfaction in obtaining the material of
conversation with other people (31.3%), channeling emotions and tension
(28.4%).
The result of the gratifications discrepancy, indicated that Real Story FTV is
only able to fulfill two types of needs offered. While the 10 othes items that
are not fulfilled (the result of discrepancy rate was lower than 30%) were the
need to get the meaning of life (40.29%), get a way to solve problems wisely
(35.82%), find the appropriate character (37.31%) , find a figure that can be
used as an example (42.26%), get guidance to live a life (35.82%), get talks
with other people (35.82%), gather with family and friends (34.32%), forget
about the problems (37.31%), to fill leisure time and relax (35.82%), and get
entertainment (32.83%). While, the needs that are able to be fulfilled by Real
Story FTV is the motive to find out the life story of other people in the
medium category (discrepancy rate between 10%-20%), and the need to
channel emotions and tensions into the low category (the discrepancy rate
between 20%-30%).
