The GSA-1000 manufactured by Telefire, is a fire alarm and automatic extinguishing control
panel. The unit is computerized and it has the ability to work in different modes, that can be
programmed and changed any time in the field without any special tools. The access is for
authorized personnel only.
The system can work in two or three-wire mode. The system controls 4, 8 or 16 detection lines -
according to the Control Panel capacity and the related programmable outputs lines that enable
the operation of sirens, automatic extinguishing devices, evacuation alarm or any other outputs
devices.
The system modes enable to work as a regular control panel, an extinguishing control panel
including crossed zones, extinguisher delay and alarm evacuation or a any combination of both.
The display of the control panel is clear and detailed. It is based on LED, digital display and
optional liquid crystal display (LCD). The control panel can be expanded to 16 detection zones
and it includes the source for computer communication, digital secondary board etc. All the
control panel lines are protected again short-circuit and cut. The output lines are constantly
controlled and automatically disconnected, in over current condition.
The battery is supervised including loading test to insure normal operation in main failure
condition. Each event in the system is clearly displayed to allow easy and fast trouble detection
by the user, technician or service personal of the different levels.
The system includes alarm verification for better reliability, and walk test mode for easy servicing.
Remarks :-
a. The GSA-1000 4,8 and 16 are programmable and the GSA-1000/4N has
fixed functions (See page 13).
b. The GSA-1000 4,8 and 16 can be connected to a Digital Remote Panel type
TDA-1000. See the Technical Manual TDA-1000.
* When displaying a zone for ON/OFF process the memory lamp will blink for about 5 sec.,
during this time you can change the ON/OFF status for the display zone
The control panel is equipped with two 7 signments display, that blinks the number 8 in normal
operation condition.
In case of main power failure they will turn off, to reduce standby current consumption.
The left digit displays the zones number or the output number, the right digit displays the
condition.
The point in the left digit serves to extinguish between Input zone and Output zone.

Remarks :-
If F1 to F5 is displayed, call your service supporter or return the equipment to the manufacturer.
2. PROGRAMMING
The modes of operation are field programmable and can be performed as follows:
In the top middle of the control card there is a program jumper marked as W01, connect the
jumper between points 1 & 2 - program mode.
Left digit - Indicates mode of operation, zone number and, output number.
Right digit - Indicates condition of operation for the displayed in the left digit.
Remarks:-
a.To change the mode, zone or output (left digit) use the ∧ and TEST push-buttons.

In the 16 zone Control Panel, in the programming mode only the input or output lines with two
digits will be displayed as follows :-

Remarks -
An output that is defined as an extinguishing output must be terminated with the End-Of-Line
circuit type EXT-1.
3. REMARKS
* Do not mix between the cross zoning for alarm purposes (to be set in the detector zone
programming) and the cross zoning for extinguishing purposes(to be set in output
programming).
* During programming when keys are not used for about 5 minutes the buzzer will remind you not
to forget the system in program mode.
At the end of setting, push the MEMORY key, wait for the letter P to appear on the display and
after its being turn off, put the program jumper back to normal (points 2 & 3).
When activating RESET push-button the system will display in the left digit the wiring mode (the
number 2 or 3) the point indicates if alarm verification is being activated and in the right digit the
number of extinguishers.
After activating an extinguisher the system will display the letter E and a number. EG - the
number of the activated extinguisher. Using the RESET key will not erase this situation, to insure
changing or refilling the extinguisher.
To bring the system back to normal operation, bring the system to program mode for a few sec.
and return to normal operation and then the letter E will disappeared.
When using the EXT-1 install the card in the End-Of-Line as close as possible to the
extinguisher.
4. WALK TEST
The GSA-1000 has a walk test mode for periodically detector zoning To activate this mode push
simultaneously the TEST & ON keys, the indication on the display is - - during the test, the alarm
disabled.
The control performed automatic reset after about 15 sec. from receiving an alarm from a
detector. In case of a second alarm from another zone (a true alarm), the alarm will be activated.
Anyway after 30 minutes on the test mode the system will automatically reset itself.
5. BATTERY TEST
The GSA-1000 performs automatically rechargeable battery supervision and test, including the
capability to deliver enough power to activate the system’s components.

WARNING : avoid damaging the unit by replacing the correct values of fuses.
7.1. INSTALLATION
Connect the mains to the system directly to a circuit breaker, not shared by other circuits. Connect
the building ground to the control panel box by using the marked grounding terminal.
Use approved wires according to local regulations, but in any case use a wire thicker than 0.8 mm
diameter.
Calculate the total current needed for the automatic dialer, automatic extinguishers, horns, etc. Do
not exceed a total current of 1A.
Connections to the system during installation or maintenance will be done when all power sources
are disconnected (mains and batteries).
The harming of the automatic extinguishing will be after testing the systems for a commanded period
of 1 week.
7.2. MARKING
Write the zone names on the panel front in the space provided for that.
7.3. TESTS
8. GSA-1000/4N FEATURES
2. The general outputs and relays operate in the same mode as the GSA-1000/8.
Remarks : -
In the 16 Zone Control Panel 2 main boards are used. The upper one is equipped with a display card
and serves as the master board. The lower board has no display and serves as a slave.
Zone or output 8 on the lower panel will be displayed as zone number 16.
The data between the two boards is transferred to the COM connectors located in the upper right
side of each board.
