1. GSA-1000 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The GSA-1000 manufactured by Telefire, is a fire alarm and automatic extinguishing control
panel. The unit is computerized and it has the ability to work in different modes, that can be
programmed and changed any time in the field without any special tools. The access is for
authorized personnel only.

The system can work in two or three-wire mode. The system controls 4, 8 or 16 detection lines -
according to the Control Panel capacity and the related programmable outputs lines that enable
the operation of sirens, automatic extinguishing devices, evacuation alarm or any other outputs
devices.

In addition there are separate general outputs for fire alarm

bells , automatic dialer, magnetic door releasers and "dry" contacts for general alarm and
trouble. enabling interface to other systems.

The system modes enable to work as a regular control panel, an extinguishing control panel
including crossed zones, extinguisher delay and alarm evacuation or a any combination of both.

The display of the control panel is clear and detailed. It is based on LED, digital display and
optional liquid crystal display (LCD). The control panel can be expanded to 16 detection zones
and it includes the source for computer communication, digital secondary board etc. All the
control panel lines are protected again short-circuit and cut. The output lines are constantly
controlled and automatically disconnected, in over current condition.

The battery is supervised including loading test to insure normal operation in main failure
condition. Each event in the system is clearly displayed to allow easy and fast trouble detection
by the user, technician or service personal of the different levels.

The system includes alarm verification for better reliability, and walk test mode for easy servicing.

The GSA-1000 is manufactured in 4 models :-

a. GSA-1000/4N 4 Zone Fire Detection Control Panel

(without extinguishing).

b. GSA-1000/4 4 Zone Fire Detection Control Panel

and Automatic Extinguishing.

c. GSA-1000/8 8 Zone Fire Detection Control Panel

and Automatic Extinguishing.

d. GSA-1000/16 16 Fire Detection Control Panel

and Automatic Extinguishing.

3. REMARKS

* Extinguisher output is activated for 15 sec. only.

* Crossed zones outputs are relatively to input zones in pairs

1&2 3&4 5&6 7&8

* Do not mix between the cross zoning for alarm purposes (to be set in the detector zone
programming) and the cross zoning for extinguishing purposes(to be set in output
programming).

* During programming when keys are not used for about 5 minutes the buzzer will remind you not
to forget the system in program mode.

At the end of setting, push the MEMORY key, wait for the letter P to appear on the display and
after its being turn off, put the program jumper back to normal (points 2 & 3).

When activating RESET push-button the system will display in the left digit the wiring mode (the
number 2 or 3) the point indicates if alarm verification is being activated and in the right digit the
number of extinguishers.

After activating an extinguisher the system will display the letter E and a number. EG - the
number of the activated extinguisher. Using the RESET key will not erase this situation, to insure
changing or refilling the extinguisher.

To bring the system back to normal operation, bring the system to program mode for a few sec.
and return to normal operation and then the letter E will disappeared.

EXT-1 : Automatic extinguishing End-Of-Line device.

When using the EXT-1 install the card in the End-Of-Line as close as possible to the
extinguisher.

When using a detonator, disconnect jumper JP1.

When using a solenoid, observe the existence of a jumper JP1.

simultaneously the TEST & ON keys, the indication on the display is - - during the test, the alarm
disabled.

The control performed automatic reset after about 15 sec. from receiving an alarm from a
detector. In case of a second alarm from another zone (a true alarm), the alarm will be activated.

To stop the test mode push the RESET key.

Anyway after 30 minutes on the test mode the system will automatically reset itself.

5. BATTERY TEST

7. GENERAL INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLATION

7.1. INSTALLATION

Connect the mains to the system directly to a circuit breaker, not shared by other circuits. Connect
the building ground to the control panel box by using the marked grounding terminal.

Use approved wires according to local regulations, but in any case use a wire thicker than 0.8 mm
diameter.

Calculate the total current needed for the automatic dialer, automatic extinguishers, horns, etc. Do
not exceed a total current of 1A.

Connections to the system during installation or maintenance will be done when all power sources
are disconnected (mains and batteries).

The harming of the automatic extinguishing will be after testing the systems for a commanded period
of 1 week.

7.2. MARKING

Mark all wires connected to the detection zones and outputs.

Write the zone names on the panel front in the space provided for that.

Stick the name and telephone of the installer, for service.

7.3. TESTS

Perform a operating test at least twice a year.

Activate all the system devices.

Disarm the automatic extinguisher during the test!

2. The general outputs and relays operate in the same mode as the GSA-1000/8.

3. The outputs 1 to 8 are programmed as follows : -

Output 1 : activated in case of alarm in zone 1 - not silenced.

Output 2 : activated in case of alarm in zone 2 - not silenced.

Output 3 : activated in case of alarm in zone 3 - not silenced.

Output 4 : activated in case of alarm in zone 4 - not silenced.

Output 5 : general output - not silenced.

Output 6 : general output - not silenced.

Output 7 : general output - silenced.

Output 8 : general output - silenced.

Remarks : -

a. The alarm verification feature is continuously activated.

b. Outputs 1 to 4 serve as a private output related to each zone.
c. Outputs 5 and 6 are general outputs.
d. Outputs 7 and 8 are general outputs - silenced, identical to the general horn output.

9. 16 ZONE CONTROL PANEL

In the 16 Zone Control Panel 2 main boards are used. The upper one is equipped with a display card
and serves as the master board. The lower board has no display and serves as a slave.

Zone or output 1 on the lower panel will be displayed as zone number 9.

Zone or output 8 on the lower panel will be displayed as zone number 16.

The general outputs on the main board serve both cards.

The data between the two boards is transferred to the COM connectors located in the upper right
side of each board.
