The background of this research background by exclusive breastfeeding problems. In
2013 the infant mortality rate in Indonesia is about 25 per 1,000 live births. The purpose of the
research to determine the relationship of knowledge mothers with infants 6-11 months of
exclusive breastfeeding to exclusive breastfeeding in the Village Puskesmas Sukakarya
Sukakarya Sukabumi.
Knowledge is the result of human senses. While exclusive breastfeeding is pure
breastfeed, which is meant purely babies given only breast milk for 6 months without any extra
liquid.
This type of research is correlational, population sample of 185 respondents and 130
respondents, test the validity of this research using the Pearson product moment of 30 questions
obtained 24 valid items, and using the Cronbach alpha reliability test results of .819, bivariate
analysis using the chi-square obtained P value 0,001.
Results showed most respondents are less knowledgeable of 48.5% and most exclusive
breastfeeding at 53.8%. From the test results obtained bivariate statistical p-value = 0.001 which
reject H0 means there is a relationship between knowledge of mothers with infants 6-11 months
with exclusive breastfeeding.
The conclusions revealed that there is a relationship between knowledge and exclusive
breastfeeding. From the research results are expected to further improve services, especially
health centers in providing health education on exclusive breastfeeding.
