FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND IDEAS

September 14 to 16, 2018 – Various CCP Venues

when my mask shatters

and you see how broken I really am
will you still love me?
-Julia Buencamino

Mental health conditions distort the perception of the afflicted mind. Creating art relieves stress,
stimulates creative thinking, and boosts self-worth by giving us a sense of accomplishment. Art also
gives aesthetic distance to our personal struggles so it can provide a safer space to our minds.

For its second year, the Festival of Arts and Ideas engages artistic expression with issues concerning
mental health conditions, resilience and healing. The festival’s main components include an exhibit, an
interactive paper crane origami installation, film screenings, workshops, performances, poetry readings,
forums and other interactive activities.

will you still love me? Festival of Arts and Ideas aims to develop awareness about mental health
through activities that help shed light on the struggle with mental conditions; equip participants with
creative and artistic tools to build mental resilience; and overcome the stigma of mental illness through
various interactive activities.
