Learning Activity
First Meeting
No. Learning Activity Time Alocation
1 Introduction 5 minutes
 Orientation
Teacher do greeting, students given time for pray then 2 minutes
teacher's checking the attendance.
 Aperseption
Students given some motivation that milk, coffee and
1 minutes
mixture of sugar with water often happened in daily life,
and this is learned in chemistry.
 Motivation
Students asked by teacher “are milk, mixture of coffee with
water and sugar with water have the same characterictics?”
1 minutes
“have you try to find out about that? Materials or substances
that used in the making of tofu, and how to make it? Did
you know that tofu is made from colloid?”
 Teacher tell learning objectives, learning method and
1 minutes
assasment that used during learning process.
2 Main activity 70-110 minutes
 Students divided into several groups and stick together with
3-5 minutes
their own group member. Each group consists 5 students
 Observe
- Students given LKPD which inside of it contains two 5 minutes
experiment should be do:
 Experiment 1: to analize and diffentiate between,
solution, suspension, and colloid using sugar
solution, milk, and coffee.
 Experiment 2: to prove one of colloid characterics,
coagulation.
- Students discuss with their group to understand
procedure of the experiment.
- Students do experiment 1 to analize and diffentiate 15-20 minutes
between, solution, suspentson, and colloid by making
sugar , milk, and coffee that dissolved in water. Then
teacher discuss experiment result about solution,
colloid and suspension.
- Students do experiment 2 to prove one of colloid 15-20 minutes
characteristics, coagulation, by adding water from
lemon into the milk which is the working principle same
with the making of tofu.
- Teacher asses affective aspect, honest and teamwork -
from the students using affective observation sheet.
- Stdents observe and discuss experiment result with their 3 minutes
own group member.
 Ask
Students ask:
 “why light from flashlight dissipated in milk solution,
while it reflected in coffee, even though both are
turbid?”
Answer:
Because the particles inside milk and coffee are
different. Milk classified as colloid and coffee classified
as suspension. Colloid particle and suspension are
different, colloid parcticle are smaller than suspension,
so that when the light from flashlight hit colloid particle
which is small, the light as if to be scattered. Different
when light hit suspension particle which is bigger than
colloid, the light will be stuck and reflected by those
particle.
4-5 minutes
 “why when we filtered, only the dregs of coffee that
filtered, whereas milk doesn’t?”
Answer:
In this experiment to text one of colloid characteristics,
coagulation. Coagulation is the characteristic where
colloid will gather when added electrolit or diffent
charge from colloid. Before coagulation happens, also
happened another process, which is adsorbtion.
Adsorbtion process happened when colloid charge
combine with charged speci, so that colloid pacticle
formed. As a result, there is a merger of charge colloid
particle. As for events, coagulation happened when new
charge speci combine with colloid charge, then it will
be formed particle which is bigger than before, so that
it will formed lumps on the mixtures.
 Representative of eachs group will present their experiment
10-12 minutes
result in front of the class.
 Teacher asses the psychomotor aspect of students by using
-
psychomotoric observation sheet.
 Teacher gives the clarification according to the experiment
that already done by students by discussing the experiment 5-10 minutes
result.
 Teacher display PPT slide about different of solution,
5-15 minutes
colloid, and suspension in tabular form.
 Teache explains about characteristics of colloid using slide
5-15 minutes
in PPT which is connected with the experiment.
3 Closing 5 minutes
 Teacher close the learning activity by telling the students
about the next learning activity, which is about kinds of 3 minutes
colloid and synthesis of colloid.
 Students given some motivation to study diligently 2 minutes
 Teacher gives closing -

Second Meeting
No. Learning Activity Time Alocation
1 Introduction 10 minutes
 Orientation
Teacher do greeting, students given time for pray then 2-3 minutes
teacher's checking the attendance.
 Aperseption
Teacher gives a demonstration about the way of making
5 minutes
colloid by mixing water and cooking oil into bottle then
shacking, next the mixture added soap water and shaken.
 Motivation
Students asked by teacher “why when soap water added,
water and cooking oil have mixed?”
Answer:
Mixture of cooking oil and water classified as emulsion,
which is liquid inside liquid. However, both have the
different characteristic on its polarity, oil is non-polar and
2 minutes
water is polar, so that oil and water can’t mixed to form one
phase. To stabilize the mixture, the way is adding
emulsifying agent (emulgator), organic compound that
consists polar and non polar group, so that can attract polar
matter (water) nonpolar matter (oil). The emulgator used is
liquid soap. The basis of this stabilization is polar
compound can dissolve polar compound, and nonpolar
compound can dissolve nonpolar compound (like dissolves
lke).
 Teacher tell learning objectives, learning method and
1 minutes
assasment that used during learning process.
2 Main activity 65-100 minutes
 Students asked to gather with their own groups on the last
2 minutes
meeting.
 Students given an instruction to read students handbook 15-20 minutes
 Students make sure that all group member understand
-
material about types of colloid
 Students given games “arrange colloid”, and teacher 2-5 minutes
explain games rule.
Games rules:
- Eachs group got one envelope which inside of it consist
picture several types of colloid that should be sticked on
paperboard that already prepared by teacher. Teacher
gives pictures by diffent papper color for each group.
Teacher only prepare two paperboards which is given
to each groups, so that every group should stick pictures
of types of colloid on paperboard. Pictures that sticked
should be suitable with its column (there is two
columns, dispersed phase and dispersion medium).
Table in paperboard described as follows:
Dispersion Dispersed phase
medium Gas Liquid Solid
Gas

 Collect Data
- Students begin games with their group after given an 15 minutes
instruction from teacher.
- Teacher invite students to check their games result. 5-10 minutes
- Teacher gives chances to students to ask about games 5 minutes
result that already done.
 Associate
- After discuss about types of colloid, teacher link the 3-5 minutes
material with its synthesis. Teacher also re-discuss
about demonstration which is conducted on apeseption
about mixing water and oil, then added by soap water.
- Teacher explain material about synthesis of colloid 15-25 minutes
3 Closing 5-10 minutes
 Teacher together with students conclude types of colloid
2-5 minutes
system.
 Students given project tasks which will be presented next
2-4 minutes
meeting
 Students given some motivation to study diligently 1 minutes
 Teacher tell students on the next meeting will be held a quiz
-
and given LKPD for home project.
 Teacher gives closing -
