Constitution and Bylaws

of the
CPAC Theatrical Arts Guild

A student organization of
Central Philippine Adventist College
Barangay Alegria, Murcia, Negros Occidental

Preamble
We, the members of the CPAC Theatrical Arts Guild, imploring the aid of our Almighty
God in order to build a nourishing and standardized guild, establish an organization that
will promote theatrical arts in and out of the college, and promote unity and enhance
the welfare of its members, do ordain and promulgate this constitution.

Mission
CPAC Theatrical Arts Guild is committed to enabling its members to achieve their full
potential as artists, artisans and leaders who aim to create productions that inspire.

Article I
Name, Purpose and Governance
Section 1. Name: This organization shall be called CPAC Theatrical Arts Guild (TAG).
Section 2. Purpose: The guild’s purpose shall be the advancement of standards of
excellence in theatre. More specifically, the guild will encourage students to spread the
Gospel through the use of theatre as a medium.
Section 3. Governance: The documents affecting the guild, in order of authority, are:
CPAC Student Handbook, the guild handbook, and the guild’s constitution and bylaws.
This constitution may not be altered in any way that conflicts with the school policies.

Article II
Declaration of Principles & Objectives
Section 1. The guild upholds the philosophy and mission of Central Philippine Adventist
College, whose collective pursuit and desire is to spread the Gospel through various
mediums.
Section 2. The guild shall foster unity, cooperation, peace and brotherhood among its
members and members of other organization of Central Philippine Adventist College.
Section 3. The guild shall organize theatrical productions of various genres that are
within the standards set by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, CPAC Handbook and the
CPAC Theatrical Arts Guild Handbook.
Section 4. The guild aims to produce the highest quality performances that the guild, as
a whole, is capable of.
Section 5. The guild aspires to promote Central Philippine Adventist College through
performances that will encourage potential students to enroll at the college.
Section 6. The guild shall provide training for its members to enhance their artistic
abilities and leadership skills.
Section 7. The guild shall engage in programs and activities with other organizations with
the purpose of widening learning experiences and to promote fellowship with other
organizations.

Article IV
Membership and Fees
Section 1: All applicants for membership must be bona fide students of Central
Philippine Adventist College.
Section 2: Active membership requires yearly commitment to theatre. To maintain active
membership, a member must participate in: (1) at least two productions and (2) two
approved non-production Thespian activities each year (e.g. seminars, workshops, social
gatherings, etc.).
Section 3: Final authority concerning membership requirements shall be vested upon
the guild’s Board of Directors and sponsors.
Section 4: Honorary membership may be granted to sponsors and former members of
the guild, for worthy assistance in the promotion of theatre in the school and beyond.
Section 5: A member may lose their ability to participate in guild activities for just cause
at the Sponsor’s and Board of Director’s discretion. Just cause may result from a
member’s violation of guild or school policies, which may affect the safety and/or
welfare of the guild and/or other individuals. This may include harassment, racism or
other actions which violate the standards set by the CPAC handbook and the TAG
handbook.
Section 6: Members must pay a membership fee of Php150.00 upon acceptance.
Additional fees may be charged for other guild activities. Fines may be imposed by the
officers if the need arises.

Article V
Officers
Section 1: The Theatrical Arts Guild shall elect officers once every school year, which will
be counted as one term of office; except if an office becomes vacant due to personal or
academic reasons, the Board of Directors will decide on the vacancy of office.
Section 2: Requirements for all elected officers are as follows: Each student must be a
currently active member of the guild, and must be officially enrolled in Central Philippine
Adventist College.
Section 3: The following officers will be elected each year according to the ordinances
stated above and will have the following functions and duties:
a. President – Presides over all meetings, appoints special committees and directs
and supervises the club activities and decision makings. Coordinates with other
churches and companies for theatrical presentations.
b. Vice President – Presides over all social welfare; such as gatherings, outings,
celebrations and others. Organizes schedules of activities. In the absence of the
President, the Vice President is responsible of presiding over the meetings.
c. Artistic Director – Is responsible for assembling the Production Staff, and
selection and interpretation of productions and presentations.
d. Secretary – Ensures all meetings are effectively organized and minutes are
recorded. Attends to club correspondence. Creates meeting agendas at the
direction of the President and/or Sponsor.
e. Treasurer – Presides over all finances, financial planning, and budget
management. Settling accounts in the business office, and banking.
f. Auditor – Checks the guild’s financial records to ensure that the financial
statements are in accordance with the proper financial reporting process.
g. Public Information Officer – Deals with requests for information. Provides
information as primary contact of the officers and members, safety and liaison
services for the entire organization, and obtains information from the
community, the media, and others.
Article VI
Board of Directors and Sponsors
Section 1: The Board of Directors, all of whom must be members of the guild, must
consist of five members: (a) The President, whose inclusion will only last as long as his
term and (b) The four Directors-at-Large.
Section 2: The present Directors-at-Large and sponsors shall be given authority to
appoint members of the board to replace a member who is leaving. The member
appointed shall undergo the process of apprenticeship for at least one semester.
Section 3: The duties of the Board of Directors will be to oversee all guild activities, to be
the final authority in selection of new members, to initiate election of officers and to
maintain quality of productions.
Section 4: The duties of the sponsor/s will be to support, advice and approve TAG
membership, activities and productions as they see fit, and to be the guide and
inspiration of the group.
Section 5: Requirements for choosing an apprentice are as follows: (1) He/she must
currently be an active member of the guild and (2) He/she must have participated in at
least one production.
Section 6: The Board of Directors shall meet at least once a month. The meetings shall
be held at such time and date as decided by the members of the board.
Section 7: The Decision of the board in all decision makings shall be final. The Board has
the power to terminate positions of other non-active officers.

Article VII
Amendments
Section 1. An amendment may be proposed by any member of the guild. All
amendments to this constitution must have the vote of at least two-thirds of the officers
and approval of the board of directors.
