UNIT 3 A WOW ! holiday report-has/have got

Class type: starter level pupils (5th grade)
Textbook: WOW, Oxford University Press
Type of lesson: consolidation, acquiring new information
* The lesson provides grammar practice of have got/has got
Skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening
Purpose: The purposes of this lesson are: to provide students with the necessary practice for
“have got/has got”, to revise the numbers and some school objects

Didactic strategies:
 methods and procedures: conversation, observation ;
 organization: class work, pair work, individual work;
 materials and equipment: textbook, handouts, worksheets, school objects

Lesson Aims:

1. to create interest in expressing possession; to promote participation;


2. to raise expectations and involvement in the lesson
3. to read and listen in order to confirm expectations;
4. to study the relevant words for the topic;
5. to practice the structure, the numbers spoken and written;
6. to understand and react positively to the tasks

PROCEDURE

Recent work : The students have done as homework exercise 2D, page 7- a letter

introducing themselves.

Warm-up Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Timing: 10’
Speaking, Reading

Aim 1:
 to create interest in expressing possession; to promote participation;
 T. checks homework with the Ss , a couple of Ss read their letters

Activity 1 Interaction :T-Ss; Ss-T; classwork Timing: 15’


Reading, Listening

Aim 3: to read and listen in order to confirm expectations;


Aim 7: to study the relevant words for the topic;

Ss listen to the tape (ex 1A, pg 11) and follow the lesson in the students’ book
T asks Ss for the new words and writes them on the blackboard
T shows Ss pictures of the seasons and of the rooms of the house
Ss repeat after the T the new words
Ss read the lesson, T corrects them by repeating the misread words

Activity 2 Interaction :T-Ss; Ss-T; Ss-Ss. classwork, pair work Timing: 15’
Writing/Reading, Speaking

Aim 2 : to raise expectations and involvement in the lesson;


Aim 5: to practice the structure, the numbers and the school objects, spoken and written;
 T. gives Ss the handouts with the new structure (the dinosaur)
 Ss write the sentences that they can make using the given words (one of the pair writes
sentences with HAS GOT, the other with HAVE GOT)
 Ss say the sentences that they wrote

Activity 3 Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T ;individual work Timing: 10’


Listening; Writing; Speaking

Aim 5: to practice the numbers, spoken and written;


Aim 6: to understand and react positively to the tasks
 T plays the tape with the numbers from 20-100(ex. 2C, pg 13)
 T. asks the Ss. to work individually and to recreate the sentences using numbers from
20 to 100
 T. gives the students the handouts to complete with the numbers
