Contemporary artworks that include video, film,


slide, audio, or computer technologies are
referred to as time-based media works because
they have duration as a dimension and unfold to
the viewer over time.
Time-based art includes key concepts with specific reference to experimental
film, video art and installation, sound, performance and multimedia
computing.
You have been commissioned to create a piece of time-based artwork
between 90 second and five-minutes long to promote exhibitions at The
British Museum relating to and exploring the uses of masks and headdresses.

Submission rules
1. Each student must create a Weebly website (weebly.com) which will be used
to present work for assessment. This should be done using the format
[firstname.lastnameUAL7.weebly.com] Pages should be created for Brief, LO1:
Analysis and Research, LO2: Problem Solving and LO3: Evaluation. Guidance
will be given in class.
2. Each student must create a YouTube account for uploading and displaying
work.
3. Productions must be filmed and edited by Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
Task four productions must be between 90 seconds and five minutes.
4. The final deadline for Unit 7 is 4pm on Friday, February 15, 2019

LO1: Analysis and Research

 Task one: Investigation of time-based art examples and criteria


 Task two: Investigation of Dada-based montage
 Task three: Investigation of stop-motion
 Task four: Analysis of GIFs and/or cinemagraphs
 Task five: British Museum project research

LO2: Problem Solving

 Task one: Two-second animation


 Task two: Whiteboard animation
 Task three: Dada-inspired GIF or cinemagraph
 Task four: Time-based production for The British Museum exploring the use and
role of masks and headdresses.

LO3: Evaluation

 Task: Evaluation of task-four production and processes.

Learning outcomes and assessment criteria
