IMPORTANT THEOREMS

1. The sum of two adjacent angles that a line makes with another line on the meeting point
is equal to two right angles or 180 degrees.
2. When two straight lines intersect, the vertically opposite angles are equal.
3. When a transversal cuts two parallel straight lines,
a) each pair of alternate angles will be equal
b) each pair of corresponding angles will be equal
c) each pair of interior angles on the same side of the transversal are supplementary.
4. The sum of three angles of a triangle is equal to two right angles or 180 degrees.
5. A) If a side of a triangle is produce, the exterior angle thus produced is equal to the sum
of the two opposite interior angles.
B) If a side of a triangle is produce, the exterior angle thus produced is greater than each
of the two opposite interior angles.
6. If two sides and the angles included between them of a triangle are equal to two
corresponding sides and the angle included between them of another triangle, the
triangles are congruent.
7. If two sides of a triangle are equal, the angles opposite the sides are also equal.
8. If two angles of a triangle are equal, the sides opposite the equal angles are equal.
9. If the three sides of a triangle are respectively equal to the three sides of another triangle,
they are congruent.
10. If two angles and the included side of a triangle are equal to two corresponding angles
and the included side of another triangle, the triangles are congruent.
11. If the hypotenuse and one side of a right angled triangle are equal, they are congruent.
12. If one side of a triangle is greater than another, the angle opposite the greater side is
greater than the angle opposite the lesser side.
13. If one angle of a triangle is greater than another, the side opposite the greater angles is
greater than the side opposite the lesser.
14. Sum of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the third.
15. The line segment joining the midpoints of any two sides of a triangle is parallel to the
third side and is equal to half of the third side’s length.
16. Square of a hypotenuse of a right angled triangle is equal to the sum of the square of the
other two sides.

CIRCLES

1. The line segment drawn from the center of a circle to bisect a chord other than diameter
is perpendicular to the chord.
2. All equal chords are equidistant from the center.
3. The arc subtended by the same arc at the center is double of the angle subtended by it at
any point on the remaining part of the miracle.
4. Angles in a circle standing on the same arc are equal.
5. A) The angle in the semi-circle is a right angles.
B) The circle drawn with hypotenuse of a right angled triangle as diameter passes through
the vertices of the triangle.
C) The angle inscribed in the major arc of a circle is on acute angle.
6. The sum of the two opposite angles of a good inscribed in a circle is two right angles.
7. If two opposite angles of a quadrilateral are supplementary the four vertices of the
quadrilateral are concyclic.
8. The tangent drawn at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point
of contact of the tangent
9. F two tangents are drawn to a circle from an external point, the distances from that point
to the points of contact are equal.
10. A) If two circles touch each other externally, the point of contact of the tangent and the
centers are collinear.
B) If two circles touch each other externally, the distance between their centers is equal to
the sum of their radii.
C) If two circles touch each other internally the distance between their centers is equal to
the difference of their radii.
