CBSE TEST PAPER-01
CLASS - X Science (Chemical Reactions and Equations)
[ANSWERS]

Ans01. (d)

Ans02. (c)

Ans03. (c)

Ans04. (b)

Ans05. (c)

Ans06. (i) Magnetic lines of force are closed continuous curves.

(ii)The direction of magnetic field lines is from North pole to south pole outside the magnet.

Ans. 07 A compass needle is a small magnet itself & hence when brought near a bar magnet it
interacts with the magnetic field of the bar magnet, as a result it shows defelction.

Ans08.

Parallel magnetic field lines represent uniform magnetic field.

Ans09. Two ways of inducing current in a coil are:

(i) By moving a bar magnet toward or away from the coil.
(ii) By placing a coil near another coil connected across a battery.

Ans10. Earth will acts as a safety device. When live wire touches the metallic appliance then
electric current flows through castling to the earth instead of human body and thus we
prevent ourselves from getting shock. It is necessary to earth metallic casing of the appliance
because it saves the electrical appliance from burning and prevent us from electric shock.

Ans11. Force acting on current carrying conductor F=BIL

(a) When I increase, F also increases hence displacement of the rod increases.

Material downloaded from myCBSEguide.com. 3 / 4

(b) When a stronger horse shoe magnet is inserted, magnetic field B increases. So force F
increase. Hence displacement increases.
(c) When I increase, force increases and hence displacement increases.

Ans12. Electric motor works on the principle that a current carrying conductor placed
perpendicular to a magnetic field experiences a force.
(i) Split ring – It reverses the direction of current in the armature and thus direction of force
is also reserved. As a result, dc motor continues to rotate in same direction.
(ii) Field magnet – It provides strong magnetic field.

Ans13. Factors on which the magnetic field produced in a current carrying conductor depend
on:
(1) The strength of the current flowing through the solenoid.
(2) No. of turns of the wire of the solenoid.
(3) Nature of the material inside solenoid.

Ans. 14.The value of induced current depends on:

1.The number of turns in the coil
2. The strength of magnetic field
3. The speed of the rotation of coil.

Flemming's right hand thumb rule is used for determination of direction of induced current.
It states that when we stretch the forefinger, middle finger & the thumb of the right hand
such that they are perpendicular to each other, the forefinger indicates the direction of the
magnetic field, the thumb shows the direction of motion of the conductor, then the middle
finger shows the direction of induced current.

Application of this phenomenon in everyday life is Electric Generator, in which electric

current is induced by rotating a coil inside a magnetic field.
