ABSTRACT
Congenital hypothyroid is a distraction in the form of lack of thyroid hormone in the
newborn. This research aims to prove the giving of the mackerel can enhance spatial memory
in rats of congenital hypothyroid. Design of experimental research is purely done by the design
of the post test and controlled group design. The Subjects consists of 30 rats were randomly
divided into 6 groups: group I normal control, group II normal therapy mackerel, group III
hypothyroid, group IV hypothyroid therapy mackerel, group V hypothyroid therapy thyroxine,
group VI hypothyroid therapy thyroxine and mackerel. Granting of mackerel with a dose
of 20% of the feed, fish or simply steamed until cooked. The results showed a mean increase
in speed in finding platforms found in groups I, II, IV, V and VI in a row is 4,23 seconds, 7,37
seconds, 5,24 seconds, 29,57 seconds and 16,93 seconds. While the decrease in the speed of
time only on groups of hypothyroid 1.07 seconds. There is a speed increase of time significantly
on Group V and VI with the value p sequentially 0.005 and 0.043. Results of this research,
mackerel can potentially enhance brain intelligence that will contribute
to therapy congenital hypothyroid.
