Abdulrahman your last story was about how you have been developing an
understanding and recognizing your own abilities by finding strategies to initiate and
maintain play alongside other children. It is also evident Abdulrahman that you have been
developing some concept of space utilized by you alongside other children. As we
mentioned earlier, we will continue to support you with the learning pathways provided by
the center which cater to your interests and will scaffold you to gain confidence in
manipulating toys. In turn, today when you saw me bringing building blocks to the main
room you laugh with great joy and it took you not even a second to join.

Teacher
Naema! I
want you to
play with me.

You put block on my knee and watched it for few seconds then tried to put more blocks on
my knee but were surprised when it all fell back into the box. I acknowledged your interest
and said, “Abdulrahman I have to make some space so both of us can build the house on the
ground. You were very curious and did not want to wait but when I said it in a singing
voice,
Abdulrahman wait for minute to move the box.
Abdulrahman wait for minute to move the box.

So we can sit together. You gave me a smile and moved to the

side a little. I moved the box to the side and made space so we
could both sit together and continue to build. I thanked you
for your good listening skills and took the blocks you were
offering me and placed them on the ground. You watched me
carefully stacking blocks on top of one another, when I stated
“I am looking for a triangle to make the roof in order to
complete the house can you help me find a triangle shape
please? You immediately took initiative and picked up the
triangle from the box and said, “Triangle.” I was very
impressed when I found out you knew all the shapes within
the building box including shapes such as, square,
rectangle, circle and triangle.
After watching you for some time you started building
your own structures using the shaped blocks. As you
spotted the circle block, you moved it inside the square
block. You were very fascinated and spent a large amount
of time rotating the shapes in and out in an easy to adjust
manner. You placed the circle block in the hole and were
very proud of yourself as you had completed the building.

When Saloomi heard Abdulrahman being so happy he came to join Abdulrahman got shy
but with some support both build a tower and have fun learning.
