Position purpose The position is responsible for the effective Project Management
and delivery of:
 the planning, management and reporting of allocated projects
/ programs as part of the Construction and Projects section
 the coordination of physical, contractual and financial
resources
Key working The position requires strong working relationships, positive
relationships communication and good cooperation across areas of the
department and organisation including external contractors,
suppliers and the general public/ratepayers. In particular with:

Financial To work within allocated budgets and timely reporting of

Special requirements Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent may be required
to attend to afterhours call outs and Council meetings as required
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery Undertake project / program and reactive work relevant to the
position or as negotiated with the Team Leader Construction or
Manager Construction and Projects
Contribute advice in the preparation of the Project and Capital
Works plan as it relates to the Construction team
Provide input to the corporate strategic and policy-planning
functions of the organisation were appropriate
Model the City of Onkaparinga values in management of staff,
interaction with management team, other departments, elected
members, community groups and individuals and representative of
government and non-government departments and agencies

Projects / The delivery and reporting of allocated projects to agreed quality


Programs standards, within allocated budgets and completed within agreed
timeframes applying sound risk management principals
Achievement of allocated programs consistent with business plans
Assist in scheduling of the annual capital works program including
daily resourcing and input of additional projects as required
Ensure the integration of economic, social and environmental
consideration in construction activities
Preparation of tender documentation and contract administration
processes relating to civil construction projects
Coordination and surveillance of contractors and contracts to ensure
agreed outcomes are achieved
Provide leadership, direction and support to staff in the area of
expertise as required to facilitate development within the team and
the organization

Policies and Assist in the development and implementation of council’s project


procedures /contract management policies and procedures

Monitoring and Assist with the preparation of budgets and ongoing review processes
reporting including the preparation of reports required by the Council,
Directors, Managers, Team Leaders and the Construction team
Record and report the progress of projects/programs utilising
council’s systems within agreed timeframes

Customer service Provide professional, relevant advice and assistance to elected


members, external and internal customers on areas of accountability
Develop and maintain key relationships with council staff in other
departments as identified
