The study conducted by Welborn Amoako and Alfred Winter
about “ When information technology meets healthcare in West Africa”, in which the study is focus to find out the introduction of information technology can transform the health care delivery in west Africa. The health care system of the said country is facing many challenges and issues that prevent the efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness of delivering quality healthcare to their people.
There were articles selected that focused on the ways in which
the use of modern technology has improved or is yet to improve the provision of better healthcare system in Africa. Some of the articles were mostly restricted to Open-Access paper and have been written scholars and have been peer reviewed because they are most likely to carry equally accurate information. The biggest barrier that was met during the selection of publications was finding articles that exclusively talked about healthcare and technology in Africa.
In conclusion, Health managers and practitioners in West Africa
seem very willing to embrace ICT in healthcare delivery system. Unfortunately, there were a lot of challenges are still facing since the country is politically and economically based. Another problem that seems very far from the solution is illiteracy of there every citizen.
