Rev. James B. Hatch, Jr. died Saturday,

Born in Sharon, PA, in 1926, he enlisted in the
U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. Following the war,
he attended Auburn University, where he played
tennis and was a cheerleader. Upon graduation,
he was commissioned into the U.S. Army, where
his distinguished career included combat duty in
Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in
1968 and in 1971, he was ordained as a minister
of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian
Church. He and his wife of 66 years, Joyce, served
congregations in Columbus and Port Gibson,
MS, Bessemer, AL, Cocoa Beach, Ormond
Beach, Titusville and Melbourne, FL and in New
Zealand.
He is loved and missed by his wife, sister, half-
brother, five children, ten grandchildren, sixteen
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many,
many more.
It was his wish to donate his body to science
and to honor that wish his body has been donated
to The University of Mississippi Medical Center
in Jackson.
A family celebration of his life will be held in
November.
