Compare and Contrast The Similarities and Differences Between United States of America and Canada

United States of America is neighboring country to Canada. Both countries are close to each other
geographically and they are located in north American continent. These two countries are one of the largest
countries in the world. Although the two countries are close each other and have some similiarities but the
two contries still have difference. The two countries have characteristic and identity of their own. This essay
will compare and contrast the similarities and differences between two North American countries, United
States of America and Canada.

The similarities between the two countries in terms of their society is about official language and
religion. The same official language of the two countries is English. English is the predominantly spoken
language in both countries. But, in Canada have two official language which is English and French. Official
language can be use to communicate, interaction, education, economy, social and politic. And the other is
the similiarty about religion. Although two countries have similiar religion but have difference precentage.
United States of America and Canada both have similiar religion christian, islam or muslim, hindu, buddhist
or buddhism, hindu or hinduism. In United States of America percentage of christian is 69%, muslim 1%,
hindu 1% and buddhist 1% and in Canada percentage of christian is 67,2%, islam 3,2%, hinduism 1,5%,
and buddhism 1,1%. There are several more religions in United States of America that is unaffiliated 24%,
unanswered 3%, jewish 2% and other 1%. In Canada that is non-religious 23,9% , sikhism 1,4% and other
0,6%.

The Differences between the two countries is about capital city, government, population and
nominal gross domestic product (GDP). One of different is about the capital city. Both countries are located
in their capital, Washington D.C for the United States of America and Ottawa for Canada. Another
difference is about population. In the United States of America it has 325,719,178 populations in 3rd and
Canada it has 35,151,728 in 30th. Both Canada and the USA have governments that seem to work quite
well but the two countries have a different in government. The government United States of America is
Federal Presidential and Constitutional Republic, and the government Canada is Federal Parliamentary and
Constitutional Monarchy. Lastly the differences United States of America and Canada in their nominal
GDP. United States of America produce an approximately US$20.199 trilion in 1st year and Canada with
US$1.763 trilion in 10th year. From that it can be seen that United States of America produce nominal GDP
higher than Canada.
In Conclusion, it can bee seen that even though United States of America and Canada are located
in the same continent that is north america continent they are not always the same. The similarities between
two countries can be seen from society is about official language and religion. The Differences between the
two countries is about capital city, government, population and nominal gross domestic product (GDP).
