Gray maintained trend status:

• That said, Gray was no longer discussed as new, just growing
• Mid-tone values dominated
• Mid and light values combined in a variegated approach, which was quite fresh
• The emergence of middle-value Gray stains on wood paralleled a trend for interiors
• A few light, pastel tones appeared
• Charcoal offered a trend-right alternative to Black
• It was shown in nearly Black textiles and…
• …in stone tabletops
• When paired with another color, Brown and/or Black were top choices
• Smoke appeared only once, but was a show-stopper

FUNCTIONALITY
Components brought flexibility to outdoor living:
• Sectionals went beyond seating
• They brought new features into the mix, like add-on cushions that could function as a bolster or a table
• Planter boxes in straight or L shapes could be assembled in a range of patterns and row lengths
• Pots in interesting geometric forms clustered into expanded shapes
• The same was true for innovative tables
• Other tables simply nested
• Lighted (or not) plastic components were built into customized heights and widths
• Umbrella bases were designed to work individually or together to provide more shade
