Design: Urban ballpark with an old-time feel and all the amenities of modern ballparks. The design is uniquely Birmingham, drawing
inspiration from Birmingham’s unique baseball heritage and drew heavily on the city’s steel manufacturing past, Rickwood Field and
Sloss Furnaces.
Construction: Commenced February 6th, 2012. Construction lasted 14 months, with Opening Day on April 10th, 2013.
Financing: Mayor William Bell and the City of Birmingham increased the city’s lodging tax by 4.5% to fund construction. $63 million in
private placement bonds were secured through BBVA Compass and Citizens Trust Bank.
Concourses: Extra-wide concourses make for comforable and convenient movement throughout the ballpark. 360 degree concourse
provides an unobstructed view of the field from any vantage point.
