Job Title: Outreach Specialist

Position: Part-time (10 hrs/week)

Pay Rate: $15/hr

Summary: The job of Outreach Specialist is multifaceted as this staff member will be assisting with
three different areas of our education department. Roughly 60% of the job will be working with our
traveling trunk program. This includes processing online program reservations, liaising with local
teachers via email, tracking program numbers, and troubleshooting. Roughly 30% will be spent
managing our social media platforms which entails working with IRG staff to create content and engage
with the public following a pre-determined tone. Roughly 10% will be spent presenting on IRG’s
outreach programs at teacher workshops, festivals, events, and school functions.

Qualifications: Preference will be given to someone with a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
Must be organized with attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing. Applicants must be local to the Martin, St. Lucie, or Palm Beach area and be able to transport
(with their own vehicle) large wheeled trunks roughly 23″ H x 37 L x 23 W in dimensions, weighing up to
70lbs. Must be tech-savvy and able to learn new web-based software such as the one used for our
program reservations. Must be an engaging speaker and able to deliver educational presentations to
various age levels. Must have access to a computer and internet as the Outreach Specialist will primarily
work from home.

Reports to: Education Manager

Job Responsibilities: Includes, but not limited to the following:

 Work with Education Manager to learn online registration system for education programs
 Run back-end of online registration system and maintain detailed records of reservations
 Maintain shared Google Calendar for reservations
 Liaise with teachers regarding their reservations and troubleshoot if conflict arises
 Maintain our social media platforms and develop new content a few times a week
 Create content such as mildly edited videos, memes, giveaways, contests, etc.
 Interact with our social media followers, answering questions and fielding messages
 Tailor sensitive content to our audience while creating a sense of engagement
 Present on IRG’s education programs at workshops, events, open houses, etc.
 Conduct outreach, educational programs and/or information tables as appropriate for festivals,
school events, and teacher workshops

Skills Required: Self-motivated and able to work independently and with a team. Enjoy working with the
general public. Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Publisher, Excel, and Word. Must be
proficient with popular social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Physical Demands: The Outreach Specialist must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and manage loading and
unloading of large equipment including our traveling trunks.

Work Environment: The Outreach Specialist will work from home and is expected to respond to teacher
requests within a timely manner. Applicants will be able to maintain another job while carrying out the
duties of this one but must be flexible with scheduling if given advance notice.
