What is VG Desk?

- Offers a platform that provides a support mechanism to vulnerable groups by helping in the
monitoring of the implementation of different government programs and projects and to assist
in the delivery of basic social services particularly healthcare.

Functions of VG Desk/Officer

a. Respond to social and health needs of vulnerable groups brought to the barangay;
b. Keep VG records confidential and secured, and ensure that only authorized personnel can access it;
c. Assist VG in securing recognition and access necessary services;
d. Assist the barangay in the provision of basic services to vulnerable groups including support services,
capacity building and referral system;
e. Coordinate and refer cases within relevant focal persons or offices within the barangay.
f. Coordinate with and refer cases to other government agencies, nongovernment organizations
(NGOs), institutions, and other service providers as necessary;
g. Document and report different forms of violations committed against women, especially senior
citizens, women with disabilities, and other marginalized groups;
h. Help in advocacies for the recognition of VGs in the community; and
i. Perform other functions the Barangay Captain deemed necessary.

- Roles of the Barangay Captains/Brgy. Councilor

Basic Documentation and Monitoring of VG Desk

a. All Barangay Captains shall submit a report on the establishment of Barangay VG Desk in their
respective Barangay to the Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod under the Committee on Health;
b. All designated VG Desk person in charge shall submit regular report towards the Barangay Captains
and Council with recommendations for immediate action or intervention;
c. All VG Desk person shall keep record and file of all VG clients in their respective Barangay and a
Report be likewise submitted to the above mentioned office including the Action Taken and Status
for each client.
d. All VG Desk persons shall communicate to client for follow up and referral; and
e. All VG Desk persons shall coordinate with other government offices and represent the barangay on
occasion concerning VGs as authorized by his or her principal.
