UPDATE ON FRANK JOHN SELAS “MR. WONDER” CASE
Frank John Selas appeared in Federal Court today before United States Magistrate
Judge Joseph Perez-Montes for a “Warrant Removal Hearing”. Mr. Selas was previously
charged in State Court in Alexandria with two counts of Aggravated Rape, three counts of
Sexual Battery, and eight counts of Indecent Behavior With a Juvenile.
In January of this year Mr. Selas pled guilty to one count of Indecent Behavior
with a Juvenile pursuant to a plea agreement and was sentenced by former Judge Tom
Yeager to five years imprisonment with credit for time served. Mr. Selas finished his state
court sentence in July of this year. In that same month a Federal Complaint, Arrest
Warrant, and Detainer were filed against Mr. Selas in the Souther District of California
in San Diego. The Federal Complaint and Warrant allege that Mr. Selas made a false
statement in connection with a passport application in violation of Federal law. The
detainer required that Mr. Selas be held pending transfer to California to answer the
Federal charges in that state.
‘The sole purpose of the hearing today before Judge Perez-Montes was to establish
that Mr. Selas was indeed the person referenced in the recent Federal filings out of the
Southern District of California. I appeared with Mr. Selas and stipulated that my client
was indeed the person referred to in the Complaint, Arrest Warrant, and Detainer. Judge
Perez-Montes remanded Mr. Selas to the custody of the United States Marshal pending
transfer to the State of California.
