I:
1) First, do no harm
a) Singing should never hurt
b) Look for tension in the neck, heads at weird angles, etc
c) Volume is secondary to health
d) Sing where it’s comfortable
2) So, more than one way to skin a cat
a) Roughly a million, and we’ll work on one way to do it
b) Rote (as opposed to reading)
i) Listen
ii) Echo
iii) Add together
iv) Finish
c) Listen
i) Whole thing first (loo loo, or whatever)
ii) Have questions for engaged listening
(1) “What song is this?”
(2) “Raise your hand when I sing the highest note”
(3) “Raise your hand when I sing the lowest note”

(4) Activities like keeping the beat, etc.
d) Echo
i) SMALL CHUNKS based on the music
(1) Follow the fingers (point me or you)
ii) Then add words, maybe before putting pieces together
iii) *Repetition is crucial*
e) Add together
i) Not all at once
ii) Listen for mistakes
f) Finish
i) Identify any mistakes, etc.
ii) Make it musical!
A:
- Pick a hymn/song and divide up based on the MUSIC, NOT TEXT
- Form groups of 3 and L, E, and maybe A
- If time, even performances!
