Assistant professor, Vladimir M. Cvetković, PhD was born in 1987, in Kragujevac. He finished primary
school “Sveti Sava“, Batočina (1994 - 2002) with a grade average of 5.00. He finished the Police High
School (2002 - 2006) with a grade average of 5.00 as one of valedictorians. After high school, he started
working in the police department of Kragujevac as a police officer. He completed first degree academic
studies in at the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies, Zemun (2006 - 2010), with a grade
average of 10.00 as a valedictorian and the first student in the history of the Academy who achieved such
success. Thereafter, he completed graduate academic studies – Master at the Academy of criminalistic
and Police Studies, Zemun (2010 - 2012) with the theme of the thesis: “Management in emergency
situations caused by misuse of weapons of mass destruction”, earning the title of Master criminal
investigator. During 2016, he defended his doctoral dissertation “Citizen preparedness to respond to a
natural disaster caused by a flood in the Republic of Serbia” at the Faculty of Security Studies, University
of Belgrade. In 2018 he established Scientific-professional society for disaster risk management. Also, he
established as editor in chief first international Journal for disaaster risk management in Serbia.
In 2011, he interned at the Department of Emergency Situations. In 2012, he completed basic course
for firefighters - rescuers during a period of 4 months, with an average of 5.00 (five) in the Directorate for
Emergency Situations of the city of Belgrade earning a certificate for firefighter – rescuer. He also passed
a professional exam for fire protection with higher education (2012). In 2014, he completed basic
specialized course for inspectors in the field of civil protection and risk management. In 2005, he became
a 1st Dan Black Belt holder in Japanese Jujutsu; he holds diploma for E class radio amateur, Sremska
Kamenica, 2004. In elementary school, he received 6 special diplomas for exceptional achievements in
competitions in: physics, history, Serbian and German languages, biology and technical education. He has
three certificates: “Future Leaders Training” (Andermatt, Switzerland, Geneva Center for the Democratic
Control of Armed Forces), 2011; “Weapons of Mass Destruction Crime Scene Operations Course”,
United States of America, Department of Defence International Counterproliferation Program, 2011;
Sixth Regional Course in “International Humanitarian Law”, BU Faculty of Political Sciences, 2009.
Teaching experience
Since 1.1.2011, he was employed at the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies as an associate in
teaching for the subjects “Security in emergency situations”, “Prevention and suppression of fires,
explosions and accidents” and “Risk management in the system of protection and rescue”. After his
employment at the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies in 2011, at the session of the Security
Studies Department he was elected for a secretary of the Security Studies Department and he held the
position until 2014. From 2013 to 2016 he worked as a teaching assistant for subjects “Security in
Emergency Situations”, “Risk Management in the System of Protection and Rescue”, “Information
Systems in Emergency Situations”, “Crisis Management”. During 2017, at the University of Belgrade,
Faculty of Security Studies he was elected as a docent for the subject “Risk management in emergency
situations”.
Assistant professor Vladimir M. Cvetković, PhD participated in conducting all specific forms of
teaching - training during employment at the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies: basic police
training with first-year students (handling and manipulation of firearms of the Ministry of Internal
Affairs); basic police and security training for emergency situations with the students of the second year
of undergraduate and professional studies; summer field training at the Teaching center of “Mitrovo
Polje” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia on Goč Mountain with third-year
students of academic studies and second-year students of professional studies. Since March 2017, he has
actively participated in the work of the Center for Emergency Situations of the University of Belgrade,
Faculty of Security Studies and leads a section for emergency situations designed for students.
Reviewed papers
Assistant professor Vladimir M. Cvetković, PhD reviewed more than 40 scientific papers in national
journals and anthologies (security, science, security and police, anthology of international scientific
conferences, etc.), and in an international journals (International Journal of Architectural Heritage,
Geomatics, Natural Hazards and Risk, etc.).
