Abstraction:
CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY
 Chinese calligraphy is an art of beautiful handwriting.
 It is done with a brush dipped in black or colored ink.
 Poets write their calligraphy on their paintings.
 Calligraphy offers an important channel for the appreciation of traditional culture and for arts
education.
 Logographs- earliest know writing symbols. These are engraved on the shoulder bones of large
animals and on tortoise shells. See examples on your book page 246
Application: Let’s Practice!
On a 1 whole sheet of paper, try to write Chinese calligraphy. Choose any symbols on page 271
