Explanation of ISO Parallel and Tapered Pipe Threads The ISO 228/1 and 7/1 threads were created by the Intemational Standards Organization to standardize the nomenclature of several international pipe threads. 228/1 The 28/1 is a parallel thread system where a pressure tight seal is not made on the thread. With the 28/1, the seal is usually made metal-to-metal against the female port or with a gasket. Following are different descriptions of the 228/1 thread, Reference Specifications: 82779 (BSPP) -~ DINISO 228/1 ~ sis B0202 ~ 180 228/ SEAL 1SO ParallelRS with Bonded Washer Seal A composite washer (usually metal and elastomer) is used to seal against the flat face of the female port. A machined taper directly behind the male thread centers the gasket. 1SO ParalleU/RP with Metal Gasket Seal A gasket usually performs the sealing between the reverse bevel of the fitting and the surface surrounding the female threads. bk fier Ey fees ‘ORDERING PART Na. ™ ‘SRe—2 160 Tos 20 S54 206 137 20 S66 239) 173 20 S58 287 216 25. ‘Sten12 35. 22 25 S85=16 2 BS 25. ‘ORDERING PART No. 1% Sp=2Cu 0 38 1 SRp=4.Cu 138 135 15 SRp=6.Cu 229 170 15) ‘SRp=8.Gu 210 213 15 ‘SRp=12.05 330 257 20 ‘SRO=16Cu 06 335 20
