1) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using heat exchanger in oil and
Gas processes. Describe an example of industrial applications that utilized heat
Exchanger in its process.

Heat exchanger one of the important equipment in oil and gas plant. It is design to
Transfer or exchange heat from one medium to another. They are used as
Components of air conditioning and cooling systems or of heating systems. The
Heat exchanger will help for the equipment in the plant such as machinery,
Chemicals, water, gas, and other substances within a safe operating temperature.
However, heat exchanger required high maintenance just to keep it work. If the
Heat exchanger broke down, the other machine will become overheated and
Causing it to break down too. Thus, heat exchanger shows to play big role in the
Industrial plant. There are few industry other than oil and gas industry that had
Been used heat exchanger in their process such as food processing industry, mining
Industry, iron and steel making industry, pulp and paper industry etc.

2) Write a one-paragraph summary of any journal article that studies on shell and
Tube heat exchanger process. The article must have been published within the
Last 5 years. Explain on the equipment used in the study and its significance
To the study done.

One of the journal that studies about heat exchanger is the study of comparative
Between pressure drop on shell side of a novel shell and tube heat exchanger with
Interstitial twisted tapes and a conventional heat exchanger of the same size with
Single segmental baffles. In those experiment, the result that had been obtained it
Shows that the chilled water and propylene glycol/water solution were circulated on
Shell side while heating load was provided by hot water on the tube side. Though, the
Thermal performance of baffled heat exchanger (a) was higher, the bundle pressure
Drop of heat exchanger with twist tapes on shell side (b) was found to be much lower
Than the baffled heat exchanger. These results indicate a potential use of such heat
Exchangers in applications where low pressure drop penalty is a primary requirement
In applications where viscous hydrocarbons and oil cooling and heating is involved.
However, this experiment can be further study by testing with several other h/w twist
Ratios and other highly viscous fluids.
