The class will discuss different ways that people can show other people

they are special in many ways. The teacher may give examples to guide
conversation.
Some may include:
• using their name
• speaking to them in a friendly and kind manner
• letting them join in our games
• sharing with them
• helping them.

The children will then do a think, pair, share of different special things
that people can do. They will then choose one of these special things iPads
and mime it out and film it using the camera app on the iPads.
10-15 They will show the class and talk about ways people could use this
mins special gift to show love. E.g. using someone’s name shows love
because you are showing them respect and calling them by their name
just as Jesus said.

This will build on EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of


identity, particularly ‘Children learn to interact in relation to others with
care, empathy and respect’.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

The teacher will gather the class back on the mat and ask students to
share what they have learnt. They will then say a special prayer together:

Lord,
I know you made me special
And others are special too.
Help me show we’re special
In everything I do.
Amen.

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

The teacher will ask the students to help pack away the materials and sit
back on the mat. They will then say their lunchtime prayer before lining
up at the door ready to go to lunch.

The teacher will use a checklist and anecdotal notes to assess if students Appendix #1
have met objectives. They will also use questioning for understanding to Checklist
