10 Take the students outside and put them in groups. Students will work in groups of Towels

The teacher will explain: “It was really hard for you to carry your friend, but in the
scripture story we are reading today we can see how a mans friends carried him
and lowered him into a roof to see Jesus.”

After the story:

Teacher: “Today we are going to write a post card.


We are going to choose a character from the scripture story and write a post card
home, explaining what has happened.
This post card will describe what happened to you on that day.
This needs to include at least three things that happened in the scripture story we
have reviewed.”
The teacher will discuss the key events. that happened in the story.
For example:
1. The journey
2. The healing

The teacher must encourage students to explain how they would feel if they were a
character in the scripture story.
The students will choose one of the following points of view:

1. Jesus
2. One of the paralysed man’s friends
3. The paralysed man

Once this is complete the teacher will collect the post cards for marking, these will
be shared in the beginning of the next lesson. Where students will come up and
openly share their post cards.

Teacher: “Whatever hardships life had given him; the paralysed man was blessed
with faithful friends. His friends were great believers and they knew Jesus could

Sometimes we fight with our friends, why do we fight with our friends?
We all have best friends, but we must remember Jesus is our forever friend! Jesus
does not put boundaries or conditions on our relationship with him. He is faithful,
loving and caring. Jesus teaches us to be loving, faithful and caring, if we live as
Jesus did we can become more like him.
Once this is complete: The teacher will display a prayer about friends on the smart
board.
Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

Students will pray “A Prayer for my friend” together. (attached at the end of the
lesson) This will be displayed on the white board. The students will already be on
