 Students identify different ways they can do good, kind, helpful things in celebration of Jesus birthday

 Students are able to create a prayer thanking God for the gifts of Jesus

 Children are sitting cross legged on the mat, waiting for the where they will be introduced
teacher to address the class to proceed the lesson

5 min  Teacher will proceed to discuss with the class the importance
and the celebration of Jesus birth, that his followers make an
extra effort to live as God wants. What this means is they try
harder to be kind and loving.

5 min  Students will be asked to quietly walk back to their desks and
brain storm in groups

 Followers of Jesus show their love for God and others as they
help others as they prepare to celebrate the birthday of Jesus.
They show love at home or at school by:

- Helping to clean up
- Helping with Christmas decorations
- Creating gifts to give the people they love or people in need
- Creating Christmas cards to remind others of this special
times

 Once students have had time, they come back to the mat to
discuss their ideas

5 min  Teacher brainstorms children’s ideas of ways they can do good,

Gift box
 Teacher will proceed to tell the students that they are becoming
secret ‘advent angels’ for someone whose name will be drawn
out of the gift box. Each student thinks of some good things they
could do for this secret friend.

 Teacher calls one child at a time to draw a name from the gift

their chosen person.

 In the classroom the teacher has provided a sacred space where
children are invited to donate to their local St Vincent de Paul, Non-perishable items
good Sammy ect non-perishable items being tinned fruit, toys,
etc for families in need at Christmas time. The gifts are placed in
the sacred space and the class prays.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of Jesus, the gift of love. Help us give
loving gifts of kindness, this Christmas and always, Amen.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

 To conduct the lesson children come quietly back to the mat and

sit with their ‘advent angel’ partner and sit crossed legged
 The teacher will select a few advent angels and their partners to
stand up at the front of the class and discuss what findings they
found as followers of Jesus.
 Teacher will finish the lesson by expressing some personal acts
of kindness and gestures that as the teacher exemplifies to
celebrate Jesus birthday.

 The teacher will ask all the children to move quietly and
respectfully back to their desks.
