Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. To Usec. Malaluan and his team, to Mr. Haessner,
Mr. Margallo and all our friends from Sequa and the PCCI-HRDF, to our colleagues from
the Regional Office, Dr. San Antonio and Dr. De Chavez, to our superiors from the
Division Office, Dr. Rocafort and all here present, it’s good to be with you again.

The K-12 Plus Project here in our school has undeniably created an exciting case wherein
administrators from the top echelons of the system sit down with teachers from the
grassroots to think things through and proceed hand-on-hand—of course, with the help
of our external stakeholders.
Indeed, the excitement with which the school first welcomed the project in June of 2014
is still the same excitement that we have as I speak.

And maybe more. After all, the Project has met surprising twists and turns which, let us
admit, were dizzying at times. Nonetheless, that we’ve come to this point is already a
testament to what we have achieved and can continue to achieve should we keep on
working together.
It is no secret that the work we do today here is spurred by a particular point of
contention unique to us in Laiya—that is the integration of the Applied Subjects into the
Work Immersion hours of the students.

If I may, I would want to compare that point of contention to the Big Bang singularity.
Had it not been for it, we wouldn’t have to be sitting here today discussing the matter. In
short, there wouldn’t have been any problem.

But as circumstances would have it, it has exploded to create a myriad of challenges—
surmountable, all of them, I wish to believe.
To recall, the first challenge we faced on account of this integration was assigning
numerical grades to the experiences the first batch had. Admittedly, it came as a surprise
to the faculty considering the circumstances within which it had to be done. Roughly a
moth before graduation, that was.
But no little thanks to the PCCI for supporting us on the task. The inputs from Dr. Carl
Balita continue to inform various practices in the program, such as using the Logbook for
the purposes of the integrated subjects.
On __________________, I had the privilege of personally reporting the actions
we took on the matter to the Central Office.
In connection, PCCI organized a seminar-workshop to layout the foundations of a clearer
curriculum integrating the Applied Subjects. This was held last summer and we have so
far implemented the design for Grade 11 students, while simultaneously adjusting it to
the needs of Grade 12 students.

To help us visualize these changes, may I present you this table: Table of Subject Alignments
Grade 11

First Housekeeping PR1/EmTech
Second FBS PR2/EAPP
Third FOS 3i’s/FPL

As may readily be observed from these tables, the path is a bit easier for G11 students
because it was for them that the seminar last summer was held. The current G12
students did not have their applied subjects in their first year because of the prior
understanding applied to the batch before them. Of course, to avoid the hassle of having
to give them grades at the last semester (and asking them to complete their portfolios in
so little time), we have opted to compress four applied subjects this semester and 3 in
the next.
Moreover, we have assigned teachers for each class and subject—on top of course of Table of Assignment of Teachers
their usual teaching load.

Of course, various adjustments had to be done with the G12 students who only have two

May I present you a short vid of our activities, so far, on the K-12 Plus Project. Short video presentation.
I think it will be most helpful if we can have sample outputs from the students. I would The group of Mary Grace Galit and her

I believe that the presentation, so far, has given us sufficient updates about the work we
do here in Laiya. My teachers and I are hereby ready to answer your questions and
suggestions on the matter. Thanks.
