Topic: family
Aims:
- to present a famous family to introduce the topic.
- to encourage students to review and learn vocabulary related to members of the family.
- to introduce the use of the possessive

Objectives:
- To review and learn vocabulary related to the family.
- To recognize members of a family (mother- father- son- brother- sister- wife – husband-
grandfather- grandmother – parents - grandparents ).
- To learn the possessive case and use it to express family relationships.
Preparation: the teacher will show an image of a famous football player (Lionel Messi). Then
one by one she will show photos of the members of his family in order to review vocabulary
related to it. They will complete Messi’s family tree all together through oral interaction. The
teacher will write on the board the new vocabulary. At the same time, she will teach the use
of the possessive case. At first,explaining the use of the possessive in the title (Messi’s
family) and then she will show and explain some sentences: Maria Sol is Messi’s sister /
Messi is Antonella’s husband. She will encourage them to use it orally asking questions as
Who is Messi’s father? Who is Antonella?...
Core task: the students will be given a text in which they will find information about Messi’s
family. We will read the text all together and after that they will do the activities. At first, they
will have to complete a chart with the information from the text.
Lionel Messi is thirty years old. He is a football player. Messi’s family are from Argentina.
Now he lives in Barcelona, Spain with his wife and his children. Messi’s wife is Antonella
Roccuzzo. She is 30 years old.
Thiago, Ciro and Mateo are Messi’s children. Thiago is five years old. Mateo is two years old
and Ciro is two months old.
Messi’s parents live in Argentina. Messi’s father is sixty years old. His name is Jorge.
Messi’s mother is fifty-eight years old. Her name is Celia Maria Cuccittini. She is a
housewife.
Messi’s sister is Maria Sol. She is twenty-four years old. She is a student.
Messi’s brothers are Matias and Rodrigo. Rodrigo is thirty-three years old and he works at
“Leo Messi” foundation. Matias is thirty-one years old and he works in a gym.

Aims: to teach and review vocabulary related to members of the family and the possessive
case.
To encourage students to use the vocabulary learned and the possessive case.
Objectives:to practise vocabulary learned from the previous class and use the possessive
case to express family relationships.
Preparation: the teacher will start the class sticking on the board an image of the Cousteau
family tree in order to review the vocabulary learned the previous class. She will ask them
some questions related to members of the family and encourage them to use the possessive
case: Who is Alexandra’s mother? Who is Jean-Michel’s daughter?...
Then she will give the students true or false cards. She will say some sentences aloud and
they will have to choose true or false according to the Cousteau family tree. She will also ask
them to correct the false ones.

Core task: the students will do an activity from the book in which they will have to add grand-
to six words to make words for more family members.

- to persuade students to use the vocabulary learned and the possessive case.

Objectives:- to listen and watch a video in order to recognize members of a family and the
use of the possessive case
- to use the vocabulary related to family relationships and the possessive case.

Preparation: the teacher will start the class presenting a listening activity related to the
previous class. They will listen to the activity twice. At first, the students will have to tick the
words that they hear. Then they will share these words with the teacher.

After that, the teacher will stick a poster with some questions on the board The answers will
be stuck on different posters on the board. The students will go to the board and they should
associate question and answer according to the video.

Follow up: The students will watch the video again and they will have to choose the correct
option.

Objectives: to learn vocabulary related to weddings and use it.
to practise the vocabulary learned the previous classes.
Preparation: the teacher will show a picture of Messi’s wedding. She will introduce
new vocabulary such as bride, groom, godmother godfather through a text. Then she
will stick on the board posters with information about different weddings.The teacher
and the students will read information about all the weddings all together. Then they
will have to match the texts with the corresponding images.After that, the teacher will
do some questions according to the different texts in order to practise the new
vocabulary. For example: Who is the bride?
