Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

All students who are studying Education and Early Childhood Education in

Nevada are required to pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam before

attending UNLV, NSC, or UNR in order to obtain a bachelors degree in Education. It is

also suggested that students take the Praxis Core Exam once they have completed the

general education requirements of English and Math and before enrollment in the

Education Capstone course. The passing scores for the Praxis Core Academic Skills for

Educators Exam is as follows: Reading passing score is 156, Writing passing score is

162, and the Math passing score is 150.

Exam Preparation

In all honesty I did not study before the exam as I should have. All I did was look

over the information about the exam and what is expected fairly quickly. I did not take

the time to study but I did try out the practice questions from ETS and I did pretty good

that I felt confident enough to actually take the exam without the need of studying for it.

A mistake that I made was not studying because it would have prepared me and helped

me get a better score.

Exam Results

The results I received on the Praxis Core Exams are as follows: In Reading I

scored a 23%, which means that I need substantial improvement in order to pass the

official exam. The next exam was Writing and I scored a 35%, which also means that
substantial improvement is needed in order to pass the official exam. My last exam was

Math and I scored a 17%, and like the rest of my scores it means that improvement is

needed in order to pass the official exam. Overall, I did not do so well because I did not

study the material and I was rushing through the exam because I was having test anxiety.

Future Exam Preparation

I have only done the Praxis Core Practice Exam in Reading, Writing, and Math

and have not taken the official Praxis Exam. In order to pass the official exam, I need to

prepare myself by reading and studying Nevada Department of Education Praxis

Requirements, Praxis Core Exam Information, Praxis Preparation for Reading, Writing,

and Math and take the Praxis Core practice test and watch the tutorial videos as well.

Another thing I want to do that will also help me prepare for the exam is work with a

tutor to get as much practice as possible. This time around I want to do my best and take

this official exam serious as I do not want the same scores I received in the Practice

Exam.
