women, men, and young people served by Planned Parenthood in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth,
Paris, Tyler, Waco, and surrounding communities
70,679 healthcare patients, including 5,489 safe, legal abortions
88% female and 12% male healthcare patients
15,232 teens and parents received health education to keep teens safe and healthy
78,300 patient visits served uninsured Texans (70% of total visits)

clinical breast exams, cervical cancer screenings/treatments, and mammography referrals
7,382 clinical breast exams performed
6,277 cervical cancer screenings provided
443 patients who received advanced testing and treatment such as colposcopy,
cryotherapy, and LEEP to remove abnormal or precancerous cervical cells

birth control services to support Texans’ ability to plan and space their pregnancies
50,853 packs of birth control pills
5,238 insertions of long-acting reversible contraception such as IUDs and implants
15,604 birth control injections
3,181 units of emergency contraception to prevent unintended pregnancies
2,892 other forms of birth control, including the ring and the patch

tests, treatments, and/or vaccinations for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
127,387 STI tests performed, including 17,329 HIV tests, enabling Texans to get
treatment and prevent the spread of STIs
572 HPV vaccines provided to males and females to prevent cervical cancer, certain
types of oral, anal, penile and vulvar cancers, and genital warts

Transgender Healthcare
services were expanded in 2017 to include Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy (GAHT)
218 patients were served GAHT in 2017 at 369 appointments in Austin and Plano.
Additional Planned Parenthood health centers will offer GAHT in 2018 including
Arlington and Denton
