The Unpardonable Sin

Definition: The unpardonable sin is Blasphemy (Hebrew "Nagar,"

Greek "Blasphemeo")

I. Knowingly Ascribing the Works of God to Satan (Matt.

12:31-32)

Matt. 12: 31-32 31 Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin
and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy
against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And
whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be
forgiven him; but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it
shall not be forgiven him neither in this world, neither in the world
to come (KJV)

II. Knowingly Ascribing the Works of Satan to God (Acts 9:1, I

Tim 1:12-13)

I Tim 1:12-13 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath
enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the
ministry; 13 Who was before a blasphemer, and apersecutor, and
injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in
unbelief. (KJV)
Note: The key to Paul's pardon was that he
blasphemed in ignorance.

III. Knowingly Fighting Against the Holy Spirit (Rev 13:5 & 6)

Rev 13:5 & 6 5 And there was given unto him a mouth
speaking great things and blasphemies; and power and given unto
him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth
in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his
tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. (KJV)
Note: The Antichrist and the Beast will not be
forgiven because they knowingly blasphemed.

IV. Continued Knowing Rejection of God's Holy Spirit Cannot be

forgiven.
(Heb 2:3; 10:26; 6:4-6 & I John 5:16)
Heb 6:4-6 4 For it is impossible for those who were once
enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made
partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of
God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away,
to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to
themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to open shame.

I John 5:16 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not
unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin
not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he
shall pray for it.

FINAL THOUGHT: If a person is concerned enough about his soul,

to worry about sin and be sorry for sin and turn back to God, he has
not committed the unforgivable sin. The person guilty of blasphemy
