Week 22

1. SCCM Procedure
What is situational awareness? Situational awareness is the ability to identify abnormal
situation and act accordingly.
Why is it important in daily basis? To be prepared in case of an unprepared emergency
situation occur.
How can we enhance it? Basically following procedures. First, doing a ’30 seconds review’
always before take-off and landing (following the acronym ABCD: Aircraft, Brace, Commands
and Duties). Second, communication between cabin and flight crew is pivotal.
2. Safety
What should you do in case of fire? Immediately attach the fire.
How do you use the halon? By pulling the pin away, putting the nozzle straight down to the
source, and release the content up to 8-10 seconds.
What is the procedure for galley fire? Switch off all electrical power and ask F/D to switch off
galley power.
What is the procedure for waste bin fire? Use Halon straight down to the source, cut oxygen
flow, cool material with water. Finally, monitor for re-ignition.
3. First aid
Who must confirm death onboard? By medical personnel before lifesaving procedures are
stopped.
What are the guidelines that will assist the CCs with the management of death? Make the area
private, cover the body with a blanket (if possible, put a waterproof material under the body in
case of seepage), if medical material is attached, leave it in place; arrange for medical authorities
to meet the aircraft.
What shall the CMDR do? Inform ATS without using the person name and inform OCC with
relevant details.

Week 23

1. SCCM Procedure
What shall SCCM confirm with the CMDR before flight deck and main cabin door are closed?
1. Check that the number of passengers and SCPs are correct and confirm with CMDR, 2.
Dispatcher has provided relevant documents to the CMDR. 3. Should ask for permission
before closing the F/D.
2. SAFETY TOPIC
How should the trolley be stowed? In the galley, with the latches and the breaks on.
Can a trolley be left unattended? No.
3. FIRST AID TOPIC
What is Decompression Sickness? When the body changes the status of Nitrogen from fluid
to gas bubbles.
What is proper first aid? 1. Level off cabin pressure, 2. Recovery position, 3. Hyperbaric
chamber, 4. See a doctor.

1. SCCM Procedure
What are the three phases taxiing can be divided into? 1. Before cabin clear, 2. After Cabin
clear, 3. Take-off signal.
What are the restrictions that apply regarding interphone use during the different phases? 1.
Before cabin clear is usable, but for safety related messages, the same happens for the second
phase. At the phase 3 the interphone is silenced.
2. SAFETY TOPIC
How many masks per bottle are there on board the aircraft? 1 mask per bottle, tot. 5 masks.
What is the pre-flight check of the Pulse Oxygen Bottle? Correct number onboard (5) • ON –
OFF valve is OFF • Oxygen Pressure between 1500 and 1850 psi • Mask attached to the bottle
and stored in the yellow pouch.
How long does the oxygen last for? 180 minutes.
What are the normal operation of the Pulse Oxygen Bottle? Release straps holding bottle to
mounting brackets • Remove mask from the attached pouch • Flip the ON-OFF switch to the
ON position. The power LED will illuminate • Place mask over nose and mouth. • Verify that
mask flow indicator will briefly display green in the transparent area with each pulse of
oxygen.
3. FIRST AID TOPIC
What are Nitroglycerin tablets for? Angina Pectoris and hypertension (we can give it as it is
oral).
What is Afipran for? Anti-nausea (we cannot give it because is provided by injection).

Week 26

1. SCCM Procedure
What are the criteria for use of child restraint devices (CRD) on board? 1. If a child uses the
CRD, a parent/guardian must be aside, 2. Must be properly seated, facing forward, 3. The
device must be labelled.
Where in the cabin should the CRD be placed? The ideal position are As and Fs seats, with the
exception of the O/Ws.

2. SAFETY TOPIC
IDENTIFIER (finds the dry/wet spillage, 3 chimes, move passengers away, identify the item),
COMMUNICATOR (inform CMDR), COORDINATOR (liaise between Identifier and the
communicator), SUPPORTER (provides extra help and support material).
o Dry absorbent material (toilet), o Latex gloves + Fire/Oven gloves (under j/s or grey bag at
the last OHL LH), o 2 small rubbish bags (grey bag), o 2 large rubbish bags (grey bag), o Fire
containment bag (G/), o Empty atlas box, o PBE (G7 or Aft j/s).

3. FIRST AID TOPIC
• Discuss the different effects drugs and/or alcohol can have on passengers.

They can be relaxed, dozy (sleepy), tired and small pupils. Reduced consciousness and breath
struggles. On the other side, they can be over-excited, active and have large pupils.

Week 27

1. SCCM Procedure
NAI cabin crew members are required to carry a valid AQTV card for each flight duty.
• What information is captured on this card? The validity period of training and
recurrent/senior training.
• When shall this be updated? After each listed training event.
• When shall SCCM ensure that all crew have AQTV card, and other required documentation,
in their possession? During the briefing.

2. SAFETY TOPIC
Flight Crew Mask and Regulator.
What is part of the PFC inspection? In set at 100% position as part of the PFC. Supply is pure O2
on demand.
• Explain the EMERGENCY position? Is used when a positive pressure is needed and to avoid
contaminations caused by smokes/fumes. O2 is pure and constant.
• Explain the NORMAL position? Used for prolonged use. O2 mixed and on demand.

3. FIRST AID TOPIC
EMK Procedure for Use
• Discuss the procedure that applies when using the EMK? The EMK is found into the F/D. To
use it, we need CMDR permission and retrieve it form the cockpit. Break the seal. Report
medication used. Reseal red after use. Inside there are various medication. A part from the
oral ones, e.g. nitroglycerine, we cannot use any of them. Furthermore, inside we can find a
wide range of tools, such as stethoscope, needle, cannulae and latex gloves.

Week 27

1. SCCM Procedure
a. During pre-flight briefing, the next most appropriately qualified CCM shall be nominated to
act as SCCM.
b. A Senior Cabin Crew Member, who becomes incapacitated during a flight or series of flights,
or unavailable at a stopover (layover) point, should be replaced without undue delay by
another Senior Cabin Crew Member qualified on the concerned aircraft type/variant. If there
is no other Senior Cabin Crew Member, the most appropriately qualified Cabin Crew Member
should be assigned to act as Senior Cabin Crew Member.
2. SAFETY TOPIC
When is the command “Cabin Crew at your stations” used? When additional decision time is
needed.

What are the Crew Duties? Listen to the interphone, watch outside and cabin conditions.
Who and what must be reported to CMDR, when “Report” is given by the CMDR? First the
SCCM, and then any of the rear galley crew by saying ‘normal FWD’ or ‘normal aft’,
respectively, if the situation in ‘normal’.
3. FIRST AID TOPIC
What causes low blood sugar? Eating to little, too much insulin, strenuous (stranues) physical
activity, drinking too much alcohol.
What are the symptoms? Sweating, shivering, hunger.
What is proper first aid? Having food/drink containing carbohydrates, rub honey on casualty’s
gums, if he becomes unconscious put into the recovery positon, if needed a doctor could use
a concentrate glucose injection found in the EMK.

Week 27

1. SCCM Procedure
Pre-flight Crew Briefing
It is mandatory that a safety briefing is conducted before the first flight of the day
(OM B CCM 2.1.2).
2. SAFETY TOPIC
Procedure when Flight Crew leaving flight deck
• Who are granted admittance to the flight deck? The CMDR can give access to flight crew,
operating crew members, and authorities.
• What actions do Cabin Crew take prior to Flight Crew leaving the F/D? Senior and another
CCM are assigned to monitor the FWD galley area.
• What actions shall be taken if an Emergency Call “Senior to Flight Deck, Senior to Flight
Deck” or 5 high/low chimes are made from flight deck during the absence of one pilot? SCCM
shall go as soon as possible into the F/D as an emergency is occurring, the rest of the CCMs
have to stow trolley, secure toilets and galleys. Take the CEC checklist. Wait for NITS briefing.

3. FIRST AID TOPIC
High Blood Sugar
• What can be the symptoms for hyperglycemia? Tiredness, Depression, Frequently urinating,
thirst and dryness.
 What are the causes? Forgetting to take insulin, inadequate dose of insulin, insulin
requirements have increased due to illness.
• What is proper first aid? Measure the blood sugar level, movement, hospital.

1. SCCM Procedure
Cabin Clear
-When does the SCCM report Cabin Clear to the Flight Crew? After ‘cabin check’ of CCM2 and
prior to the twofold flashing of the seatbelt sign.
-How would you set the cabin lights for take-off/landing during daytime? And during night?
Both following outside conditions.
2. SAFETY TOPIC
-What is the pre-flight check of the ELT2? Correct number onboard, correctly stowed and
preselected at ‘arm’ position. If we are on a MAX there are 2 ELT2.
-Where is the ELT2 located? 1st OH LHS for Legacy, Sky and Sky+, and 1st OH LHS and row 14
(d-e-f) for MAX.
-Discuss the use of the ELT2 on land and in water? Remove protective cover, turn it left,
antenna deploys automatically, the switch must be put on ‘ON’ for land use and ‘ARM’ for
ditching.
3. FIRST AID TOPIC
-When would you use a defibrillator? It is used to restart the heart, after the start of CPR.
-Where would you place the electrodes on an adult? Forming a diagonal and putting one the
top hearth side and one to the opposite bottom of the hip. And on a child? One Between the
nipples and one between the shoulder blades.

SCCM PROCEDURE TOPIC


Domestic Transfer
When should the PA be made? After the pre-landing announcement at 20 minutes before
landing
By whom? SCCM
Which PA shall be made if arriving into OSL from an airport included in the Domestic transfer
project? Ladies and Gentlemen, important information regarding custom clearance at Oslo
Airport. Passengers with a connecting domestic flight, go directly to your gate. Please make
sure to use the Domestic Transfer customs located in the departure hall, next to gate D2. If
you have questions, ask the airport staff in yellow t-shirts. Passengers connecting to an
international flight with Norwegian and have a boarding pass for your next flight, proceed
directly to your gate.
Which PA shall be made if arriving into OSL from an airport NOT included in the Domestic
transfer project? Ladies and Gentlemen, important information regarding custom clearance
at Oslo Airport. If you are continuing on a domestic flight, you need to pick up your baggage
and bring it through customs here in Oslo. Please note that this has to be done even if your
baggage has been checked through to your final destination. If you are continuing on an

international flight with Norwegian and have a boarding pass for your next flight, proceed
to your gate.

SAFETY TOPIC
Seating Restrictions

An infant seatbelt is considered to be a CRD (child restraint device) therefore a passenger with
an infant, restrained by an infant seatbelt, is not permitted to sit directly in front or behind an
emergency exit row. For example, in an aircraft with 186 seat configuration, can rows 13 or 16
ABCDEF be occupied by an INF restrained
by an CRD? Nope.

FIRST AID TOPIC


Internal Bleeding:
• What are the symptoms? They might differ depending on the type of injury. Area will be
swollen, hard, stiff, the injured area will loo blue, the causality would eventually have
pale/clammy skin, and the will be a fall in blood pressure or loss of consciousness.
• What is proper first aid when dealing with internal bleedings? They also depends on the type
of injury. Recovery position, keep airways open, maintain body temperature, never give
painkillers.

Special Announcements
• Who is responsible for all special announcements on ground? SCCM.
2. Safety
 What is the procedure to refuse transport of a passenger? CMDR or Handling agents
decides. CCM inform SCCM and SCCM informs CMDR.
• What are Cabin Crew procedure for dealing with unruly/violent passengers? Ensure that
FD door is closed, situational awareness of ‘sleepers’, if necessary use restraint kit
3. First aid
What are the symptoms of allergy?
• What is an anaphylactic shock?
• How would you administer first aid and which medication do we have available on board?
In case of allergy, use promezatin (FAK: 1 in G7 and 2 at LAV
E wall). The symptoms are short of breath (asthma), rash, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea
and
swollen eyes. In case of anaphylactic shock, an Epi-pen (adrenaline) must be used (EMK into
the F/D:
not given by CCMs).
