PQA Procedures

Connection at Low Voltage (LV) Installation

1. Visual Inspection and Survey

- Through ocular inspection and survey, identify the system that are need to study / install
PQA.

2. Prepare instruments / equipment needed and appropriate Protective Equipment

A. Check the condition of the instruments (probes, battery, adaptor and power
supply)
B. Verify the memory storage of the PQ analyzer and other portable instrument
(Clamp meter)
C. Verify the data and time for the analyzer / PC clock for a suitable time stamping.
D. Qualified AP Engineer will need to be present during all work. Such personnel will
normally be provided by Assistant Engineer and technical personnel of the
Customer
E. On applicable 3 - phase installations, agree with all personnel, whether to
connect in Star (Wye) or Delta.
F. Note installation detail in a work sheet / log book especially technical problems /
fluctuations.
G. Ensure marked signs (caution!) to indicate the place of working
H. Leave contact details in case any problem occurs during or after the installation
I. Check Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s):
a. Safety Hard Hat
b. Safety Shoes
c. Ear Plugs
d. Safety goggles
e. Safety gloves

3. Installation of Power Quality Analyzer

- Measurements are done on the phase voltages and line current amperes. Phase voltages are
measured using the scheme Phase A - Phase B (VAB), Phase B - Phase C (VBC) and Phase C - A
(VCA) utilizing test probes (see figure 1). Line currents are measured by clamping the meter or
using flexible host each line terminal Phase A, Phase B and Phase C (see figure 2).

- Types of PQ Analyzer Installation

A. Main Circuit Breaker, either bus bar or bundled wire. But it should be accessible
B. Main Check Meter, usually voltage rating is 110V to 230V

NOTE:
1. Voltage should not be greater than 600 Volts and must be less than 6,000 Amperes
2. What are the ratings of the Potential Transformer (PT) and Current Transformer (CT)
3. What is the connection of the Main Transformer?
