Cognitive Observation
I. PART A
A. A 12 month child begins to throw and shake objects begins to bang things
together.
C. The toys or materials that will help a child to move on to the next stage will be a
ball or nesting cups. A ball will help the child learn the concept of repetition. The
child will bounce the ball and want to repeat the concept to see what will occur
with the ball. Nesting cups will the child because they will want to stack them
D. The teacher guides the child while he is interacting with the child. For the ball
drop the teacher suggests the child to drop the ball from different heights which
helps the child understand the concept repetition. He drops the ball and you see
the same reaction as to when the child first bounced the fall. It gets the child
curiouse to keep discovering. The child then reaches for a different size ball to
discover the same concept. He then reaches for a different type of material of ball
and discovers a new concept about the that ball.The classroom provided all
different types of stacking cups and different sizes of balls for the children to play
with.
II. PART B
A. The child of 18 months can distinguish ordinary objects. She shows interest in
stuff animals such as dolls plays with them as she is feeding them.
B. The child shows signs that she is in the substage 6 which is the beginnings of
symbolic representation.
C. Toys that child will help them move on to the next stage will be toys such as dress
D. The teacher plays pretend games with the child such as having them play cooking
games and also dress up as doctors. Some of the children play with objects that
make them believe they are cooking or being doctors in the classroom.
III. PART C
A. Scale 3
the child play with the toys for about 2 minutes. The following items were
chosen for the observation: a ball, doll, spoon, paper towel, bracelet, ring,
a cape, blanket, a car, plastic shovel, plastic flower, and a marker. The

(1) The child began to throw the ball around the classroom.
b) Doll
(1) The child began to feed the doll with the spoon.
c) Spoon
d) Paper towel
(1) Cleaned the table and the ground with the paper towel.
e) Bracelet
f) Ring
g) A cape
h) Blanket
(1) Placed the blanket on the doll. She said the baby was going
to sleep.
i) A car
j) Plastic shovel
k) Plastic flower
(1) Placed the flower in a container and put water into the
glass.
l) Marker
(1) Asked for a piece of paper to scribble on the paper.
B. Toys that I will offer the child will be objects that are pretend toys. Toys that that
imitate objects in the real life. Toys that help the child learn more about ordinary
