Project: Multimedia Project

Name(s): Clair Brown, David Maimone, Mike Wood, Stephanie Galczynski, Carl Peitz
Course: Geometry
Unit: Unit E: Triangle Congruence
Lesson: Lesson 5: Isosceles Triangles

DECIDE
PLANNING:
1. Identify standards and set instructional goals
a. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.CO.C.10: Prove theorems about triangles.
Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180°; base
angles of isosceles triangles are congruent.
b. Instructional Goal - Identify and analyze properties of triangles.
2. Decide on a project
● Asynchronously, students will investigate isosceles triangles by viewing
resources and completing activities on the teacher created website. The
website includes multiple resources for each topic to meet the needs of all
students.
3. Assess prerequisite skills
Technology Skills
● Basic Geometer’s Sketchpad skills (taught earlier in the school year;
program is used throughout the course.)
● How to navigate a website
Content Skills
● Measure and classify triangles
● Use deductive reasoning
● Solving equations for an unknown
4. Determine assessment techniques
● Teacher created website and resources embedded in the lessons (Quizlet,
Prezi, Sutori, EdPuzzle)
● Throughout the lesson, students will be asked to complete problems on a
wipe board for teacher feedback. (Formative Assessment)
● The following class period, students will complete a graded classwork
assignment to assess their overall knowledge of the content.
ORGANIZING:
● Students will work independently to complete this activity in one class
period.
● Students work in a one-to-one laptop classroom setting so all students will
have equitable access to online resources

DESIGN
Teacher:
1. Conduct formative assessment
● Throughout lessons, students will be asked to answer assessment
questions to be self and teacher checked.

DEVELOP
Teacher:
1. Facilitate multimedia activities
● Teacher will be monitoring student progress
- Ensuring equipment and site is working.
- Circulating and monitoring content progress
- Troubleshooting
- Assessing
- Managing time
- Summarizing lesson
2. Conduct formative assessment
● Teacher will give students feedback on their responses to assessment
questions embedded in the lessons. Students will be answering the
questions on dry erase boards and then showing them to the teacher for
his/her feedback.
Extra information:
Students begin the lesson by investigating angle and side relationships of isosceles
triangles using Geometer’s Sketchpad. Sketchpad is installed on all student computers,
however you may not have this program. Below are screenshots of what the activity will
look like when the students open the activity and then after they have completed the
exploration.
