Purpose
It is intended that this experience will provide a framework for the development of expedition skills in planning,
preparation, participation and leadership. There are two parts to this assessment:
Your engagement in the 3-day bushwalk in Deep Creek Conservation Park both as a participant and leader under
supervision.
Leading a micro tutorial while on the bushwalk in Deep Creek Conservation Park.
Demonstrate knowledge of the contribution of outdoor education in the development and conduct of an integrated
educational programme.
Use personal camping, bushwalking, and outdoor recreational skills at a leadership level.
Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures and legal implications in outdoor education experiences.
Camp Craft
Demonstrates appropriate minimal impact practices for overnight
bushwalk
Demonstrates knowledge of ethical practices regarding land
management, boundaries, access and national parks guidelines
Demonstrates ability to set up tent, select tent site, cook, clean up,
pack up.
Demonstrates range of ‘soft skills’ whilst on camp – debriefing,
running activities, engaging with others
