ITM 11 – INTEGRATIVE PROJECT

The integrative project serves as the venue for ITM 11 students to demonstrate their learnings
from the course in a simulated assignment. The project will involve the preparation of a
business application and a presentation.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Create an Excel based cashier system for an establishment of your choice with a Word
document serving as a user’s manual.
2. Prepare a 15-minute powerpoint presentation selling your cashier system.

OUTPUTS:

1. BUSINESS APPLICATION

A. USER’S GUIDE

PROVIDE A BOOKLET (WITH A FLYER LIKE COVER) INCLUDING YOUR BRIEF COMPANY
BACKGROUND (OWNERSHIP, EMPLOYEES, ASSETS AND SALES) AND A STEP BY STEP
GUIDE AS HOW TO USE YOUR BUSINESS APPLICATION.

Report Format:

8 ½ x 11 size paper (folded half crosswise), 1 ½ line spacing, 0.5 inch margins,
numbered headings, headers and footers, tables, photo insets, charts where
applicable.

Include table of contents and list of figures & tables, abbreviations and
acronyms. Footnotes and endnotes for references must also be made available.

B. CASHIER SYSTEM

CREATE AN EXCEL BASED CASHIER SYSTEM BEING ABLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING


ACTIVITIES IN THREE SHEETS: ORDER TAKING, RECEIPT CREATION AND SALES SUMMARY
REPORT. THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE USER-FRIENDLY AS WELL AS VISUALLY APPEALING.

ORDER ENTRY
- BASED ON ESTABLISHMENT CHOSEN, A CERTAIN CUSTOMER CAN
ORDER ANY QUANTITY OF PRODUCT TYPES/SIZES. UPON ENTRY OF
ORDER, THIS SHEET SHOULD BE ABLE TO COMPUTE HOW MUCH THE
TOTAL BILL IS AND SHALL ASK WHETHER ORDER IS FINAL. ONCE FINAL,
ANOTHER CUSTOMER ORDER CAN BE TAKEN.

RECEIPT
- BASED ON THE DATA IN THE ORDER ENTRY SHEET, A RECEIPT SHOULD
BE CREATED ONCE CUSTOMER ORDER IS FINALIZED. THIS CAN THEN BE
PRINTED. THE FOLLOWING DATA SHOULD BE SEEN: NAME OF
ESTABLISHMENT, DATE OF ORDER, ITEMS ORDERED AND QUANTITY,
PRICES, TOTAL AMOUNT, CHANGE AND A THANK YOU MESSAGE.

SUMMARY SALES REPORT


- BASED ON TOTAL SALES FOR A DAY, A REPORT CAN BE CREATED
SHOWING A TABLE WITH ALL ITEMS SOLD WITH QUANTITIES AND PESO
AMOUNTS TOGETHER WITH A CHART SHOWING PERCENTAGES.

2. BUSINESS PRESENTATION

There will be a 15-minute presentation per group before the end of the summer term. Each
group will be heard by a panel of at least two members, composed of faculty members
and/or external resource persons.

Each group will prepare a powerpoint presentation covering the highlights of the product
(incorporating a product demonstration) and the company with the goal of selling the
business application.

Word 30%
Excel 40%
Powerpoint 30%
100%

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Hardcopy of User’s guide with a CD of the business application and other files (word, excel
and powerpoint files) in a sleeve. Packaging is optional but will be given merit.
