Integration Assessment: Content Curating: Pinterest

for Educators
Quest Name: Content Curating: Pinterest for Educators

Features of the Technology: You start by clicking on topics that interest you, then
the home page shows pictures of things you may like
based on your chosen interests. You can also search
for things like math lesson ideas and save (Pin) them
to a board for later reference.

Link to Learning One way that Pinterest links to learning is that a

teacher can find new ideas for lessons and learn
about strategies they may not have seen before.
Students could also learn from Pinterest by
looking for new ideas for project.

Integration Ideas: Like the links to learning, I think I could easily

integrate Pinterest into my own learning and
lesson planning for finding new, fresh ideas for
the class. Students could look for new ideas for
projects, inspiration for art classes and things like
that!

Integration Issues Pros: Seems to gather pictures from everywhere

on the web, so it seems like there is a never-
ending stream of new content. Having the ability
to pin ideas for future reference is also great.
Cons: In the first few minutes I came across
some memes that had swear words on them (I
was looking up “teacher memes”) So I am not
sure what kind of profanity filtering or safety
features it would have that would make it ok for
2

students to use.

I am really glad that I did this quest! I can see

how I will use this in the future when looking to
Final Thoughts find activities for my students, ideas for
classroom décor, teaching strategies, and maybe
a little bit of humour as well!
