School Development Plan

Priorities 2018-2019
Our current School Development and Self Evaluation priorities are:

1. To focus on our commitment to a common ethos and vision to reflect the growth and diversity of our whole school
community.
Article 2 (non-discrimination) The Convention applies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any
other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background.

2. To further refine and embed our curriculum offer and use of responsive assessment, incorporating the Preparing for
Adulthood agenda, enrichment, health and wellbeing, play and Forest School.
Article 12 (respect for the views of the child) Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have
their views considered and taken seriously. This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child’s day-to-
day home life.

3. To lead effective partnership working with families, employers, community groups, health care services, local
authorities and other agencies to further contribute to our pupils’ successful life outcomes.
Article 23 (children with a disability) A child with a disability has the right to live a full and decent life with dignity and, as far as possible, independence and to
play an active part in the community. Governments must do all they can to support disabled children and their families.

4. To maintain a financially robust future for the School to achieve the vision of the School .
Article 28 (right to education) Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be
available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

5. To continue to gain recognition of the School as a Centre of Excellence by building upon our established reputation.
Article 29 (goals of education) Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for
human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.

Rights Respecting School Award Level 1: As a school community we are working towards Level 2 and promote the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child in all that
we do. Achieving Level 1 has helped us focus and celebrate teaching and learning that encourages respect for ourselves and others and helped us further develop ways of involving
all our Learners regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, nationality, national origin, religion or belief and financial standing, to become more empowered in the
day to day running and the strategic vision of the School.
