1. Introduction
A written report on the Semester project is expected at the end of the semester.

This project is designed to test your knowledge of concepts taught, your creativity and
attempts at finding solutions in some interesting problems with practical applications.

The results of the project should be written up in the form of a scholarly manuscript as
described in the guidelines below. Please exercise great care to avoid plagiarism.
Plagiarism is the deliberate use of someone else's language, ideas, data, or other original

will be penalized.

2. Term Project
a. It is assumed that interest rates should be correlated with home prices. One
would expect that the higher the interest rates the more expense the price of
a home would be. Use the Regression tool in the Analysis ToolPak to compute
the correlation between the interest rates and home prices in the
accompanying excel file named “mba825 assignment” containing two excel
sheets. Use the excel sheet labelled interest rates and home prices and provide
answers to the following:

i. Compute the correlation coefficient (𝑟).

ii. What does this statistic mean concerning the relationship between
interest rates and home prices?
iii. What percent of the variability is accounted for by the relationship
between the two variables and what does this statistic mean? 𝑟 2
iv. What would be the slope and y-intercept for a regression line based on
this data?
b. Use the Two-factor ANOVA tool to provide the ANOVA table from the data in
T-ANOVA sheet. Answer the following:
i. Are there any significant main effects or an interaction effect.
ii. Interpret your answer
